It was the first class for my Social Psychology (PSYC0103) module and I’ve got to
know my lecturer of this module which is Ms Pang Chia Yee. We get to know each other
through introduction and she brief through about this module and cure our curiosity about
Social Psychology which we think psychology means reading mind. Miss Pang is a very
funny person for me as she always tell different joke that most of Malaysian don’t understand.
She also did a simple psychology experiment so called ‘Shyness Scale’ by Cheek
&Buss, 1981.This experiment was used to measure how shy of a person. First of all, she
show up questionnaires on the power point slide and we are asked to mark the score. At the
end of the test, we were told to reverse all the score that we got. Then, we add up all the score
we got and typically I found that I’m actually a shy person. I though I’m an open person
before the experiment and day by day I realize that it was just a mask that I put onto my face,
it’s very accurate !
Somehow I like Social Psychology class as I think it was quite interesting and fun.
Anyway this module is more relax compared with core module and the main factor is this
module have less homework!

Today, we had a class about knowing ourselves. According to Miss Pang we
(adolescence) were always wonder about ourselves, whether we made the right decision or
not, or maybe had we chosen the right path of our life to be an architect? ‘There were always
an explanation whether it’s right or wrong about ourselves’, she said. Most of the time, selfexplanation were always wrong and we actually influenced by other people or our
surrounding. For an example, the reason why I came to Taylor’s University was not totally
about the quality of the university and it was about the fame. Taylor’s was famous with their
environments and architecture but the main factor why I came for Taylor’s University is
mostly because of it was officially recognized by LAM (Lembaga Architect Malaysia).
Otherwise, there are also an experiment conducted by Woodzicka and LaFrance in the
year of 2001 asked woman on how they would feel if they were asked sexually harassing
questions on a job interview. Participants predict that they will feel angry but when it comes
to reality they actually more often experience fear! In addition, people have mispredicted
how they would feel sometimes after a romantic breakup, receiving a gift, losing an election,
winning a game, and being insulted by Gillbert& Ebert, 2002;Lowerstein &Schkade, 1999.
In this class, I’d learned a lot about myself, I’m no who I think I am which other
person knows my personality even more than myself.

In today class, Miss Pang talked about attitudes and social judgement. Attitudes are
positive or negative of objects of thoughts. The 3 of the component of attitudes included
cognitive, affective, and behavioural. Our behaviour is affected by our attitudes. Then she
showed us few creative poster that attract others attention without emphasis the product
physically. After that, something interesting that make me like this class the most is she
showed us about learning of behaviour such as monkey learn monkey do, this is the most
common method used by pet trainer to train their pet to do specific act that looks like human
such as parrot recognizing words.
The learning progress start from the stimulus then response and lastly it came to affect
it’s behaviour. There are also consequences that reinforced the responses of a living things,
primary reinforcers are commonly satisfying their biological needs while secondary
reinforcers means conditioned reinforcement which depends on the situation for example
money is human’s secondary reinforces when human work every single day to earn their
salary. Anyway, there are always something to motivate them for their behaviour whether
they did it nicely or not.
In this lecture, I’d learned a lot about attitudes and behaviour of myself.
