- 11. What is being done to address the issue of volunteering? High schools are requiring students to complete a minimum of 60 hours. Universities are requiring students to complete a minimum of 100 hours (CMU).
- 12. What legislative efforts are being made? All universities have made volunteering mandatory in order to graduate. Mostly all high schools required volunteer hours before they can receive their diploma Employers are hiring more employees based on their community involvement.

- Hello. My name is Arkeisha Keller and my powerpoint is over an educational issue. I chose the topic why volunteering is important. This picture represents one of the student volunteers that helped out on plant a garden day.
- Volunteering promotes learning through active participation, extends beyond the classroom and improves the community. Thus this is the reason why we should volunteer, because it is a great cause.
- Most of the time we volunteer because its required, but true volunteering is when you do it out of the goodness of your heart.
- Many options available to you. You have to find a volunteer opportunity that fits your personality, consider areas of interest in which you are most passionate.
- This is alist of just a few of the different places that you can volunteer and get involved.
- These are picture samples of myself in one, helping out at the Big Sisters Big Brothers club, and another photo of students helping cleaning up their community.
- Volunteering can have a lot of good outcomes not only benefiting the people you had help, but yourself as well.
- Volunteering helps impact students community awareness, making them become more involved and active. Students that volunteer know more about job opportunities and open their eyes on diversity.
- Many students donot ever think about “what if” they did not have something. Volunteer makes you not take granted the little things in our own lives, because it might mean a lot to someone else in their life.

- I know that all the schools in my district have made it mandatory for students to volunteer and have even set up field-trips so that elementary students will get involved a long with their parents as well.

- You can enjoy volunteering. You meet people from different backgrounds. Do some type of volunteer service that you are interested in, and trust me. It will be a memory that you keep with you forever.
- Visit the organization in which you are interested in before you make a commitment. Make sure it fits you. Be realistic about how many hrs you are able to volunteer, remembering school comes first. Show up on time and don’t skip scheduled days.
- This is a group of students that I worked with and the other picture is the Houghton-Jones neighborhood association, a group where students can join and volunteer through out the city. This concludes my presentation. Are there any questions?
