Using Facebook as
your business
profile instead of
your personal
profile:
Most Facebook business pages
have probably never tried
switching from their personal
profile to their business page
profile. There’s good reason
to do it, and do it often!
Why & When to use
                         Facebook as your Business
Use Facebook as your
business profile:
Switch from your personal user profile to your
business profile. Go to the business page
and with the “Admin Panel” displayed, click on
“edit page” and select “Use Facebook as
________”.
Why & When to use
                                   Facebook as your Business
Your business clients are
likely on Facebook.

Search for them!:
Search for your business clients and
“like” them. They will get notified by
Facebook that “XYZ Company likes”
them and they will likely return the favor.
Example of a search for “Moran Insurance”:

                               Facebook as your Business
Search for other local businesses and organizations:
Search for other local pages and places to like in surrounding communities. Example of Annapolis Md. search.
Note that Facebook allows you to narrow your search to “people”, “pages”, places”, etc.
             Search Facebook “Pages”                          Search Facebook “Places”
Why & When to use
                           Facebook as your Business
Actively monitor your
newsfeed:
While using Facebook as the
business name, go to your “News
Feed” (click the Facebook logo in the
top left) and all the places/pages you
liked will have their updates
displayed.

When you see an activity you like,
click the “like” button. Your business
name will display.
Why & When to use
                              Facebook as your Business
Share another’s
update!:
In addition to liking another page
activity, you can click “share” and it
will be displayed on your business
page. You can also add a comment.
The other business will see that you
shared their update.
Why & When to use
                             Facebook as your Business
Recommendations are
very important, but can
only be made while
using your personal
profile:
Certain activities on Facebook can’t
be completed while using Facebook
as the business name.

Switch back to your personal profile
by going to the top of your page and
selecting the drop down arrow.
Why & When to use
                                Facebook as your Business
Recommendations:
Go to your business page and review the
business you have previously “liked” and
write a “Recommendation” for them.

You can only write a recommendation while
using Facebook as an individual. You are
unable to write a recommendation when
using Facebook as a business.

It is best to write the recommendation as
the business owner and reference your
business; e.g., “As the owner of XYZ
Plumbing in Annapolis, I highly recommend
_____”.

            This is an example of others
    recommending Moran Insurance. How
                     powerful is that? 

NOTE: if a recommendation area is not
appearing on the business page, it is
because a physical address for the
business is not being used on Facebook.
Most likely because they have multiple
locations.

Using Facebook as your Business profile

  • 1. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Personal Profile Business Profile Using Facebook as your business profile instead of your personal profile: Most Facebook business pages have probably never tried switching from their personal profile to their business page profile. There’s good reason to do it, and do it often!
  • 2. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Use Facebook as your business profile: Switch from your personal user profile to your business profile. Go to the business page and with the “Admin Panel” displayed, click on “edit page” and select “Use Facebook as ________”.
  • 3. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Your business clients are likely on Facebook. Search for them!: Search for your business clients and “like” them. They will get notified by Facebook that “XYZ Company likes” them and they will likely return the favor. Example of a search for “Moran Insurance”:
  • 4. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Search for other local businesses and organizations: Search for other local pages and places to like in surrounding communities. Example of Annapolis Md. search. Note that Facebook allows you to narrow your search to “people”, “pages”, places”, etc. Search Facebook “Pages” Search Facebook “Places”
  • 5. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Actively monitor your newsfeed: While using Facebook as the business name, go to your “News Feed” (click the Facebook logo in the top left) and all the places/pages you liked will have their updates displayed. When you see an activity you like, click the “like” button. Your business name will display.
  • 6. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Share another’s update!: In addition to liking another page activity, you can click “share” and it will be displayed on your business page. You can also add a comment. The other business will see that you shared their update.
  • 7. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Recommendations are very important, but can only be made while using your personal profile: Certain activities on Facebook can’t be completed while using Facebook as the business name. Switch back to your personal profile by going to the top of your page and selecting the drop down arrow.
  • 8. Why & When to use Facebook as your Business Recommendations: Go to your business page and review the business you have previously “liked” and write a “Recommendation” for them. You can only write a recommendation while using Facebook as an individual. You are unable to write a recommendation when using Facebook as a business. It is best to write the recommendation as the business owner and reference your business; e.g., “As the owner of XYZ Plumbing in Annapolis, I highly recommend _____”. This is an example of others recommending Moran Insurance. How powerful is that?  NOTE: if a recommendation area is not appearing on the business page, it is because a physical address for the business is not being used on Facebook. Most likely because they have multiple locations.
