4. Inactive Decision-Making
Style
 Failing to make a choice….letting others or life
make the decision for you
*Teens with this decision making style do not know what
they want to do, put off making difficult decisions they
end up having to deal with watever happens
“I dunno” “Whatever” “Just whatever”

5. Reactive Decision-Making Style
 Allowing others to make decisions for you
* easily influenced by what others think or
suggest…lacking self confidence
*Need to be liked by others
“I don’t know what classes to take…what are you taking?”
“What college are you going to” “What should I wear today?”
“Should I go out with him/her”
*Teens with this style are not Empowered!!!

6. Proactive Decision-Making Style
 One examines the decision to be made, identifies and
evaluates actions that you might take, selects an action
and takes responsibility for the consequences of that
decision.
Chose not to do homework for classes resulting in a bad
grade….you don’t blame the teacher, lack of sleep, difficulty
of homework for being the reason…you acknowledge…you
were just lazy and didn’t do the work.
*Teens that make Proactive Decisions do so most likely by
using steps referred by “The Decision Making Model”

Model
 Steps that assure that your decisions lead to
actions that promote health, safety, shows respect
for self and others and demonstrates good
character.
