How to search a database via the National Library of Singapore

1. Search a Database via the Singapore National Library Board (NLB) website

4. NB: You must be a Digital Library Member of the NLB to access a database. (See the separate instructions on how to sign up.) You can access all of these databases at any National Library branch . If you are a regular Library Member of the NLB, you can access databases from home or anywhere . Sign in to your Digital Library Account

8. Each database interface is similar -- e.g., Basic vs. Advanced search forms, as well as Boolean (AND/NOT/OR ) options for different fields (author, title, subject, publication, etc.)

10. Watch for full-text results -- they can be read, printed, e-mailed, etc. immediately. If a search result is just a citation (i.e., author, article title, and publication name), you still have to get your hands on the article.

14. Most databases let you e-mail the search results to yourself

15. Many databases will also give you the information you need for your bibliography . ( MLA is the bibliographic format you must use.)
