2. Midsummer or Ligo is Latvian annual celebration of the summer solstice, 23
and 24th June. During the Midsummer night, people sing, dance and make
bonfires.

3. On the eve of the Midsummerday women gather flowers, greens and herbs,
and make wreaths for women and men. Men usually wear wreaths of oak
leaves.

4. On Midsummer Eve people pick greens and flowers, and walk around
meadows and fields waving and singing.

5. On Midsummer night people search for a fern flower. The person who finds it
acquires wealth and happiness, learns the secrets of the past and the future.

6. On Midsummer people usually eat caraway cheese and bacon rolls, and drink
beer.
