Let’s Redeem Our Pledge…
Warm Greetings of the New Year
Let 2015 fetch us newer opportunities!!
We have welcomed the New Year 2015 with great en-
thusiasm. Every individual has his/her cherished hopes for
a better tomorrow and for a better world. We have our col-
lective day dreams too. The racial ill-will, hatred and mu-
tual distrust of the nations and our inability to use the
fruits of science solely for the welfare of mankind have
led the apprehensions of fear about the future. Let us all
wishfully hope that 2015 will pave the way for the world-
peace and open up a stream of new enterprising opportu-
nities for all of us. We have our responsibilities too. Hard
work, sincerity of purpose and faith in ourselves is re-
quired. We shall redeem our pledge to serve our commu-
nity with devotion and dedication. Let us not loose faith in
our mission to strive hard for the welfare of the mankind.
2014 witnessed the setting of some good trends and
hopeful developments in some spheres of life in the World as
a whole. India witnessed some amazing developments that
would reinforce the popular belief of the World that ‘India is
the only hope’ for mankind’s welfare. There were drastic ad-
ministrative changes. The launching some new movements
and projects has triggered new hopes and stirred enthusi-
asm in the masses. The new Union Government headed by
Narendra Modi has proclaimed ‘Make in India’ slogan. The
Swachch Bharat Abhiyan caught the imagination of people
all over India and the entire nation showed enthusiastic re-
sponse. This augurs well for our growing democracy as it
has led to the voluntary participation of the public in the
governmental programmes in the real sense of the term.
The public trust in the government will lay a sound foun-
dation for the successful implementation of the projects
and programmes. The new fiscal approaches and policies,
total computerization, the novel insurance facilities, ‘Bank
accounts for all’ have instilled a new hope and this surely
will pave way for the economic development and stability.
2014 recorded a good list of achievements and accom-
plishments in various spheres – science, innovative technol-
ogy, fine arts and sports and environmental protection. Our
scientists successfully launched the Mangalayan spacecraft.
Our own super smart Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) dazzled
the World by reaching the Mars on its very first attempt.
And this feat is counted as one among 25 achievements of
2014. India won the covetous Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
Kudos to Kailash Satyarthi for all his earnest efforts and
for raising the prestige of India in the comity of nations.
On the Health front, the advancement is quite heartening.
Medical facilities are being provided to the rural places of the
country and the entire country is becoming health-conscious.
The yogic associations and centres all around the country
have been doing fairly well to awaken the people to become
health-conscious. The television channels have been acting
as catalysts of social change and our democracy is well on its
way to become more and more maturer. In the field of sports,
India shined considerably. Let us hope that India will continue
to shine and do its best to become number one in the world.
2014 has slipped by leaving behind its traces of memo-
rable happy events and happenings and its bitter memories.
There were sexual harassments and atrocities and abuses
on women and children, bombing explosions, the brutalities
of the terrorists and horrible air crashes. Some social evils
yet continue to pester us and we have to struggle hard to
build the nation. In spite of the innumerable scaring prob-
lems, India is marching ahead with renewed confidence. It
is all set to become a super power in the world sooner. We
have to make this a reality and let us hope that 2015 will
pile up achievements and advancements towards this goal.
Sarve Janah Sukhino Bahavantu!
Samastha Sanmangalani Bahvantu!
2. BHARANI NAKSHATRA
In Hindu astrono-
my, Bharani is the sec-
ond nakshatra, it is also
called ‘The Bearing Star’.
Bharani is ruled by Yama,
the God of Death. It is rang-
ing from 13°-20’ to 26°-40’.
People who will born in
this Nakshatra will rule the
world; it is a popular say-
ing in Hindu Mythology.
Incase of Bharani Nak-
shatra, the given name
would begin with the follow-
ing syllables: A -pronounced
as in “agglutination”, Ee
-pronounced as in “Eel”, Li -
pronounced as in “little”, Lu
- pronounced as in “look”, Le
- pronounced as in “levity”,
Lo-pronounced as in “local”.
People born in this Nak-
shatra will say only truth
and will follow Dharma.
They usually have water
related phobias. They are
go getters once started a
work. They live a long life;
they are good for good
and bad for bad people.
For Bharanians, busi-
nesses like vegetable
oils, Ghee, Liquids, Pet-
rol, Gas, Beauty prod-
ucts, partnership in fruits
and vegetables are best.
People born with Bharani
nakshatra should wear 1
pada – Manikya, 2nd pada
– Pachccha, 3rd pada –
Daimond, 4th pada – Coral
with 2+ carrots. Yamuna
Snana and Shraddha Pinda
pradhana will clear doshas.
Best to do for Bahranians
Krutika,Uttara, Uttara-
shadha nakshatras will bring
dhan samapttu. So it is the
best time to start do mon-
ey transactions for them.
Mrugshira, Chitta, Dhan-
ishta nakshatras will bring
welfare, so it is best for them
to start welfare activities.
Puanrvasu, Vishaka,
Puravashadha will bring
achievement, so it is best to
start new work like big fac-
tory works, ambitious works
and adventurous works.
Ashlesha, Jestha, Re-
vati are friendly stars. It
is the best time to start
partnership ventures
with these nakshatrains.

PANCHANGA SUMMARY
Murlidharsa F. Kalburgi
Rashtrakutas were
originally from Latta-
lutru (Latadesh) region.
They have claimed that
they belonged the Yadu
(Yadav) ancestry. Yadu
was their earliest fore-
father. The inscriptions
of Rashtrakutas found
in Ellora, Sumangadh,
Sajjangadh, Nesari and
in other places proclaim
that they were the de-
scendents of ‘Yadu’ dy-
nasty. Rashtrakuta king
Indra had married Gu-
jrath’s Chalukya prin-
cess Bhagavana. His son
Dantidurga inherited the
military prowess of the
Chalukyas. The Rastra-
kutas and the Kalachu-
ries were the blood rela-
tives of the Chalukyas
of Badami and the Cha-
lukyas of Kalachuri. It is
an interesting point to
note that many of our
people bear the name
‘Bhaganasa’. (‘Bhagana’
may mean sky). The
researchers of history
have to throw light on
this point.
In the Kannada re-
gion, the Rashtrakutas
belonged to the promi-
nent agrarian families.
The great literary work
‘Kaviraja marga’ was
written during the Ras-
trakuta reign. The Kai-
las Temple sculptured
in a single rock at Ellora
together with 18 Shiva
temples elsewhere and
many amazing sculp-
tures are the contribu-
tions of the Rastrakutas.
The Rastrakutas’ ear-
liest capital was Man-
yakhetawe (today’s
Malakheda). It is in the
northern belt of the
Karnataka state. In our
community, we find the
Katwe families in Hub-
balli, Gadag, Raneben-
nur, Ilkal, Hyderabad,
Gudur Gadwal and else-
where.
The Rashtrakutas of
Manyakhetawe might
have been from the Kat-
ave family. The Rajolli
families coming origi-
nally from the Andra re-
gion say that they are
the Katwes and they are
found in Ilkal, Gudur and
Gajendragada. The fam-
ilies coming from Rajolli
(Rajorlali) say that they
belong to Arasiddi fami-
lies but because they mi-
grated from Rajolli, they
are called so. They also
say that their ‘gotra’ dif-
fers from that of the Kat-
aves. The point to be not-
ed here that the gotras
of Habibs and Kataves
are the same. In Gu-
jrath’s Porbandar, there
is a beautiful temple of
Arasiddi Devi. Arsiddi or
Arsidda may have been
derived from that. The
earlier days’ ‘pharmara’
may have become ‘Pa-
war’. This name is found
in our SSK Samaj. The
Bhumkars of Sholpaur
are from Bhumak. The
SSK Samaj’s Bhand-
ages are from Bhanda.
Anavasu Baddis are the
descendents of Bad-
digaraj from Himachal
Pradesh. Thus from the
various surnames of the
SSK families, we can
trace the history of our
people .
