From administrative point of view Hungary is divided into nineteen counties and the capital. Each county has local courts and a county court. In Budapest the local courts are the district courts (the twenty-three district being represented by six combined district courts) and the equivalent of the county courts is the Budapest Metropolitan Court. In Hungary 5 regional courts of appeal are seated in Budapest, Debrecen, Gy?r, Pécs, Szeged. The highest judicial forum of the country is the Supreme Court. The Budapest Metropolitan Court is led by its president, assisted by two vice-presidents. Both of them are appointed by the National Council of Justice for six years. The president of the Budapest Metropolitan Court is primarily an administrative leader of the Budapest Metropolitan Court, the Budapest district courts and the Budapest Labour Court.
