Both. I think that the creator needs to be careful who displays their creation, but the users need to ethical about how the creators work is
displayed and protected.
Do you now, or have you ever used an MP3 file sharing network? If so, do you fear a company taking legal action against you?

I have not used an MP3 file because I would prefer to buy the actual CD. I have received copies of music from other people who made
the CD's on their computer. I always wonder if they will get in trouble for downloading the music illegally.
What effect, if any, do you feel that these peer-2-peer networks have on the music industry?
o
I don't think it has too much effect because the music industry is flourishing regardless. It may mean the artist has to do more
promotional events, but the money will still be there.

Yes. I feel that Napster helps people preview the artists new music. There needs to be more restraints on sites like Napster, but I think it
could give a lot of bands more exposure.
Now that legal sites, such as itunes, are available, how do you think the illegal sites have fared?

The new legal sites seem to have take over the Internet downloading market, but people still use the illegal sites because they are free.
The illegal sites will never go away because people will always be looking for a way to save money.

Both. It is the creator and their representatives' responsibility to ensure that the copyright is not being compromised. However, it is also
the user's job to ensure that they are not breaking the law by violating copyright laws.

I have used file sharing systems off and on for about 10 years. I do get worried about getting in trouble. However, my hard drive crashes
so often, it is unlikely that they will find much illegal music on it.

I think that they are having a negative impact on the sale of CDs, as seen my profits. This is only because many artists and labels are not
embracing the new phenomenon.

Record companies and artists should have embraced the new technology. If they had worked to develop something that was agreeable to
everyone, it could have avoided all of the lawsuits. Maybe they thought that Napster and programs like it would not last and CDs would
remain the best way to purchase music. With the increasing popularity of MP3 players, that is obviously not the case.

I don't. If I am lucky enough to have a career, I don't want people taking money from me.

It takes the ability to make money as an artist out of the hands of the people that were brave enough to shoot for something risky.

Included the artist on the sales of the mp3s from the beginning. It's like going into someone’s house, taking something and selling it.

will still steal what they don't truly value.
