2. • 4 now Deborah a Prophetess, the wipe of
Lapidoth, was Judging Israel at that time. 5
and she would sit under the palm tree of
Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the
mountains of Efraim. And the children's of
Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 then she
sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam
from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, “has
not the Lord God of Israel commanded, Go
and deploy troops at mount tabor; take with
you ten thousands men of the son of Naphtali
and of the son of Zebulun
3. • 7 and against you I will deploy Sisera, the
commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots
and his multitude at the river kishon; and I will
deliver him into your hand”. 8 and Barak said
to her “if you will go with me then I will go;
but if you will not go with me I will not go”.
5. Introduction
• 1 When Ehud was dead, the children of Israel
again did evil in the sight of the Lord.
• The lifestyle of the Israelites during the reign of
the judges was unique. They were faithful while
their leader was still alive. After the death of their
leader they go back to their former way of life.
Then, God allowed the nearby city to punish them
and oppressed them severely. Yet, when the
Israelites will call on Him, He (God) will send
someone to Rescue them.
6. The strategies of Barak
for his success!
• A: Right place- he went to Bethel, this
place spiritually refers to the place of worship!
• B: Right attitude- he came to Deborah when
he was called.
• C: Right request- he begged Deborah to go
with him.
7. I: He went to the right place (Bethel- the
place of worship)
• 5 and she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah
between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of
Efraim. And the children's of Israel came up to her
for judgment.
• Bethel- a town about twelve miles north of
Jerusalem where Jacob seen his vision. Gen. 28:11,
19 its name means- the house of God.
• Today bethel spiritually refers to a church, a local
congregation gathered for worship. God’s intention
was to prosper his children's. When Barak was in the
right place he experience success.
8. Haggai 1:7-9
• 7 thus says the Lord of host, “consider your
ways”. 8 “go up to the mountains and bring
wood and build the temple, that I may take
pleasures in it and be glorified,” says the Lord.
9 “you looked for much, but indeed it came to
little: and when you brought it home, I blew it
away. Why? Says the Lord of Host, “because
my house that is in ruins, while everyone of
you runs to his own house.
9. • Coming to church is essentials as far as success is concern.
• Before he (Barak) experience success against his enemies
he make sure that his spiritual life was equipped. He knew
that he will face a strong and mighty men of king Jabin
the general of his army Sisera.
• Jesus himself before he face the crucifixion. He went to
the garden of gethsemane to pray. He make sure that his
spiritual life is equipped being a human. As a result he
was successful to overthrow Satan and bring
reconciliation before God and the human race.
• Therefore, if we desire success, then it is a must to
consider their strategies and imitate it.
10. II: he Possessed the right attitude. He
came when Deborah called him!
• 6 then she sent and called for Barak the son of
Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to
him, “has not the Lord God of Israel
commanded, Go and deploy troops at mount
tabor; take with you ten thousands men of the
son of Naphtali and of the son of Zebulun
11. • The right attitude that every individual must have is boldness
(attitude) in prayer. He knew that Deborah will extend a
petition for him. He made an efforts to come to Deborah to
receive advices from her, as his spiritual mentor.
• The success here in our church for more than 6 years will not
come to pass without our spiritual mentor which is God and
the rest of the Pastor used by God to be blessing.
• In they same way, if you are going to neglect the importance of
your spiritual leader you will encounter severe oppression and
difficulties. Imagine the lifestyle of the Israelites. Without the
presence of their spiritual leader they were oppressed by their
neighboring countries for several years.
12. III: he uttered a right request- He begged
the presence of Deborah to come with
him.
• 8 and Barak said to her “if you will go with me
then I will go; but if you will not go with me I will
not go”.
13. • Not only the prayer and advices of our spiritual
leader but his presence is very important. As
Peter said to the leper in Acts 3: 6 “silver and
Gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to
you, in the name of Jesus Christ rise and walk.
• It is possible, through the presence of your
spiritual leaders, that God will bless and unite
again your broken families, unfruitful business,
unresolved conflicts, healing of your close family
members, and etc..
14. Deuteronomy 28:8
• The Lord will command the blessings on you and
your storehouses and in all to which you set your
hand,,..
• God speaks this message to Moses the leader of the
Israelites. The message from this text, is still
applicable to us today. Barak knew the important of
the presence of their spiritual leader for success.
Likewise, success is not only a dreams when we
believe and give our lives to him. It is a reality, we
suffer failures, maybe because of our strategies. Let
us imitate the techniques of Barak.
15. Conclusion
• We can reach our dreams in life if we have they
same methods. If we are in the right place, if we
possessed the right attitude and if we uttered
the right request. Then, you will testify that the
message in Malachi 3:10 is absolutely true.
• “bring me all the tithes into the store house, that
there may be food in my house. And try me in
this, says the Lord of host. “if I will not open the
windows of heaven, and pour out for you such
blessings that there will not be room enough to
receive it.
