Photo Shoot Plan

Project title:
Project:
Project Description:
For my main task I must create a front cover, contents page and a double page
spread for a new rock music magazine that will compete with other similar
publications such as the Rolling Stone and the Q Magazine.
Photographer:
My model is going to be someone who dresses indie and looks the part of
who suits the stereotypical ‘rocker’.
The photographer will be myself as I like to take the responsibility fully
and to also make sure to get the angles and shots I would like.
The technical codes I would use are a medium – close up image of the
cover star. This is because it is usually shot which looks the best.
The lighting I would like to use is bright lighting. This is because the
details of the person on the front cover are important and I want them to
stand out as much as they can.
I don’t want to make the picture dull as again I want the features of the
person to stand out as the features are important.
I chose this font style because it suits the music genre I chose. It is also similar to
my chosen magazine of inspiration ‘KERRANG!’ which I am competing against
and taking ideas from. Also it suits the rock genre as it is very bold, stands out
and is messy looking. With this in mind, I aim to ensure some or most of my
photography follows a similarly edgy format.

Reference images and ideas:
The reason why I have chosen these pictures is because ‘KERRANG!’ is my chosen
magazine of inspiration. Therefore I want to link my magazine with these photos of rock
bands.
Casting:
I have chosen my friend Oscar to model for my photo-shoot. I have chosen Oscar
because he normally dresses like an indie rocker without trying, therefore as he
is naturally dressed like this I feel it is easier for me to bring in a costume for
him, and as he suits the indie rocker look very well and dresses well I thought he
would be best.
Model requirements:
My model Oscar is very tall and older looking for his age. Therefore he will suit
the front cover as he will look like an actual rocker. Also the clothes that Oscar
wears are very indie which means I won’t need to give him any requirements as
to what he needs to wear as he already provides the clothing needed which is
perfect. Also I would like Oscar to be holding a guitar because it just give the
picture more meaning and character to the front of the magazine as it is a music
magazine.
Wardrobe and Look:
In the wardrobe I would like a lot of indie designer clothes. I want this because a
lot of artists in most rock magazines now dress indie and it suits the stereotype
very well. I also want Oscar to wear a beanie hat. I want this because it gives the
main photo model more character and which suits the reader audience more too.
Hair and Make up:
Make up will not be necessary as we will just adjust the lighting to get the best
look in the photo. The hat will be covered up by a hat and will not be too much of
a problem.

Where:
I would prefer that the photo shoot will take place in a place with a simple
background which will not be too much trouble to get rid of.
When:
I will be taking these photos on the 24th November after school around 4pm.
