This document provides information for a midterm exam on Hollywood and history. 5. ESSAY QUESTION
• Many immigrants to the United States feel compelled to
adapt to their new country. Sometimes this adaption means
losing previously held values and adopting new ones. In
your opinion, to what extent should immigrants give up their
native values and try to be more like Americans? How
important is it to maintain the values of one’s cultural
heritage? For you personally, which American values are
most difficult to understand and accept. In your essay,
make specific references to at least 2 articles and at least 1
movie that we have read and watched this summer.
