Josiedone is an oral opioid tablet available in 5-10 mg strengths that treats moderate to severe acute and chronic pain from conditions like dyspnea, pulmonary edema, myocardial infarction, severe diarrhea, intestinal cramping, and persistent cough. Common side effects include respiratory depression, sedation, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, and sweating. It should not be taken if one has hypersensitivity, acute bronchial asthma, emphysema, or upper airway obstruction or combined with alcohol, other opioids, general anesthetics, sedatives, or MAOIs.
