25. SMART objectives for the web
1. Specific – Objectives should specify what they
want to achieve.
2. Measurable – You should be able to measure
whether you are meeting the objectives or not.
3. Achievable - Are the objectives you set,
achievable and attainable?
4. Realistic – Can you realistically achieve the
objectives with the resources you have?
5. Time – When do you want to achieve the set
objectives?
32. Should you even make this
public?
How do you separate the signal
from the noise?
What’s your SMART objective?

The second reason to start thinking about this was a conversation some time ago with Marietje Schaake, the Liberal MEP.
This week, I’ve received thousands of e-mails about shark finning, she said to me. What am I supposed to do with those? I do not deal with anything to do with animal rights. And how do I know these people?
Forget the politics of this. It looks cool! And cost a hell of a lot.

ACTA in Leipzig. On a damned cold day. This means something to people. But it started online.
The only successful ECI so far.
Note the small line about the actual demand, and the way this is framed. Over the top?
So who were the major backers? The German Greens. So much for this being grassroots!
Requirements are so onerous… it’s a signal – of sorts!
If you don’t go crazy signing an ECI, then well done. Your voice counts for something!
