Complete Persepolis Essay
The book, The Complete Persepolis is a book that was written by Marjane Satrapi and is a 341–page
comic book that is a memoir of Satrapi's childhood and of her growing up during the Islamic
Revolution. It was a time period that was very devastating for families, because so many families
were ruined with all the violence going on. Constantly, where Marjane lived, was being bombed
over and over, which created an environment so devastating that all the people could only focus on
one thing and that is survival. Marjane was put in a tough spot, unlike most kids her age because of
instead of her family moving out of Iran for safety, it was her that had to move for her safety. Not
only does it affect her but it affects her family with the idea of...show more content...
There were a lot more characters discussed in the memoir, but these ones were the most discussed.
Marj is the protagonist of the book and also the narrator of telling us how her life proceeded
during the revolution. Her father played a huge role in Marj life because he wanted the best for her
even if that meant her moving to different country and not see her for a while. He also supports her
opposing ways which caused controversy with his wife believing the opposite. Her mother also was
important because she was more of the stricter parent between the two. She felt that Marj needed
to focus on being safe rather than her going the way that could cause bad consequences. One of
them was when she was expelled. Marj would always disagree with the teacher and voice her
opinion and the mother felt that was a bad way because it caused her to be expelled. The next
character that played an important role was her grandmother. She was important because she was
always there for Marj even when the two had a fight over the fact of Marj sending an innocent
man to prison. Once they could agree to talk to one another, she got Marj to pursue the divorce and
have be a free woman. The last character is her uncle Anoosh. He was important to Marj and her
childhood because Marj thought he was a hero for standing up to the government. He was later
prisoned and executed for being a Russian

Macro-Level Practice Skill: Needs Assessment
Macro–level practice skill: Needs assessment Conducting an effective needs assessment is a critical
component of working as a sociologist. Needs assessment requires an understanding of the needs of
the community which the agency is designed to serve. Methods of needs assessment will vary
depending on the resources of the organization. In my case, it involved reviewing the relevant
statistical data available from government agencies about the general population along with
conducting more informal qualitative interviews of the community. Needs assessment may also
entail a review of the relevant scholarly literature on different ways similar communities have been
served. "Needs assessment is the formal process of identifying needs as gaps between current and
desired results, placing those needs in priority order based on the cost to meet each need versus the
cost for ignoring it, and selecting the most important needs (problems or opportunities) for reduction
or elimination" (Leigh 2000). Asadi–lari, M., & Gray, D. (2005). Health needs assessment tools:
Progress and potential. International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care, 21(3),
288–97. As well as psychological and social aspects of client health, the physical health of clients
can and should not be ignored when treating patients. This paper examines various ways in which
needs assessment can take place to assess client health, which may encompass general overviews of
clinical data, patient surveys, and

Reflection Paper About English Composition
English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and
researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout the course, I got better at analyzing
articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to
use the information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if
needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not one to organize my essays in an
ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Now with taking the course, I have learned to
organize my essays, examine research for a topic, and develop an essay with proper mechanics, and
revising skills. In writing my personal, review, analytical, and cultural...show more content...
I then described my life and who I was. After describing this, I explained my experiences in
confronting racism. The point of the essay was to state that racism is still alive and can be present
anywhere. After writing this essay, I learned that my mechanics and style was not where it should
be. Even with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics
and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several spelling mistakes. I looked to improve
my mechanics after writing this essay.
With writing my review essay of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's album The Bigger Artist. The essay
took some time to write because of the research I needed to gather. In this essay I used more
citations and quotes. I made mistakes the mechanics in writing the quotes. This was the first essay
in which we used sources, so it was challenging to create my own ideas but I was able to do it.
Writing this essay improved my knowledge of mechanics in citations and quotations.
Through taking the course, I learned to utilizes sources in a more efficient way. In writing my
analytical essay of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly I had to use ten sources. All the sources
I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were
needed to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who
created the source and decide if it was credible. This essay assignment force me to examine works in

Improving My Writing Habits
George,
One of the biggest things people will face is being able to complete their work, rather than find
excuses not to. I would hope this is not a dilemma many of us will face, especially since getting our
graduate degree requires a lot of dedication. aPy takes time and developing a good writing habit also
come along with time. As you alluded to writing a draft may be a good idea, this way you can
have that first draft proofread for errors. I remember when I started writing I use to have my paper
proofread by the most anal person ever and even though it was frustrate the amount of errors they
found it helped improve my writing. Sometimes you may find a professor who is very meticulous
about how they want a paper presented and the also can

Improving My English Composition
The last English class I have taken and completed was AP English IV at West Lauderdale High
School. In that class, I learned the basics of how to format a college essay and how to present it as
a college student instead of someone fresh out of high school. I was also taught how to write a full
five paragraph essay with supporting points under a time constraint. Gathering my thoughts and
presenting them in short time was difficult, but it was great practice for future essays. Furthermore, I
studied different pieces of literature and learned how to discuss the themes and symbolism. In
English Composition I, I want to improve my skills in writing an essay and bringing out my points in
a more concise way. Improving my sentence structures and variety

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Questionnaire On My Ideal Self And Real Self
In this week's written assignment I will complete a questionnaire about my ideal self (who I want to
be) and my real self (who am I). Furthermore, I will conduct a so–called 360–degree feedback.
Thereafter, I will analyze the results in order to build a plan about my strengths and how to reduce
the gaps between your ideal and your real self. Body: According to the analysis of my ideal–self

harmony, happiness and without discriminations or bias against minorities. A place where your
children have a future and grow up in peace. Equal chances and opportunities to reach your
dreams regardless who you are and where you are from. A social environment where people help
each other and work together to create a prosperous community. No child should be left behind.
Schools should be free so financial week families can effort to send their children to school.
Health care and medical supply should be also free to ensure that everybody gets help when
needed. Nobody should be thrown out of his home to the street when losing his job because he or
she can't effort to pay the rent anymore. All these can be financed if we would spend less money
for weapons and wars. Developing a range of scenarios in the future I can imagine losing a best

Rough Draft Process Analysis
When beginning to write an essay everyone has their own method of doing so. Some may like to
brainstorm while others may prefer to go straight into writing about their topic. I personally
beginning every essay by collecting ideas about my topic before coordinating them into a type of
diagram, next I proceed to do my rough draft before revising over the paper and finally composing
my final draft. The point of the writing process is to help break everything down so ideas can be
organized and everything can make perfect sense for not just the writer but also the reader.
Writing an essay can be difficult if a person does not know how or where to begin. I personally
believe the first step of writing is to list down ideas about the topic. After...show more content...
Proofreading and revising is a very crucial step in the writing process. If a person does not
proofread then the essay they worked on may not make sense and may overall confuse the reader.
Using correct punctuation shows how sentences are supposed to be read. Once I have made sure
all my sentences are grammatically correct I then compose my final copy of the essay. Writing
can be difficult if not done correctly. That is why there is a writing process to follow. Using some
type of way to group ideas together help coordinate how the essay will go. Then once the ideas are
put together the rough draft can be formed and edited. After everything has been writing accordantly
the essay can then be turned in. Some may think the writing process is just some more additional
steps to getting their essay done but overall it makes the writing experience easier and more

The Importance Of Writing Process In Writing
After this semester I feel that I've not only developed into a better writer but also have grasped a
better understanding of the writing process, which is arguably most important; having a solid
foundation for my writing technique is the key to writing well. Throughout middle school and high
school, I have always been told to use the "five paragraph format" when writing essays, but now that
I'm in college, I understand that I have been limiting my creativity and not expressing my
opinions and ideas to their fullest extent. To be a good writer, I must put time and effort into my
topic and fully understand the main idea to write a satisfactory essay. So far, I feel as if I'm doing
alright. `When I first begin the writing process I always start by typing out the full story.
Personally, I can't sit down and plan what I'm going to write about; formal drafting makes me feel
as if I have writers' block. Over the years I have taken bits and pieces of advice about my writing and
incorporated those snippets of guidance and suggestions into what my writing style is today. I don't
think I'm a bad writer, but I could work on developing more of my essays into "A cakes."
In the narrative essay, I chose a topic that most of my peers could relate to and a topic that was
very important to me personally. Being a new driver is exciting, however, it also is potentially very
dangerous, and I really wanted to capture that in my writing. Your feedback stated that I needed to

Thomas Aldrich Bailey
Great novels are those that, despite their length, offer a multitude of ways in which readers can
understand, interpret and emote with them. " A woman alone with her soul," can be interpret as
having a deeper psychological meaning, but one can also accept the credibility of the literal surface
meaning of the words. These three sentences are filled with more questions than they are answers.
Thomas Bailey is known to surprise readers as he generates suspense and mystery when he
composes the novels. Thus, leaving the reader with questions that cannot be answered just

Analysis of The Complete Maus, by Art Spiegelman
When reading a traditional book, it is up to the reader to imagine the faces and landscapes that are
described within. A well written story will describe the images clearly so that you can easily
picture the details. In Art Spiegelman's The Complete Maus, the use of the animals in place of the
humans offers a rather comical view in its simplistic relation to the subject and at the same time
develops a cryptic mood within the story. His drawings of living conditions in Auschwitz;
expressions on the faces of people enduring torture, starvation, and despair; his experience with the
mental institution and his mother's suicide; and occasional snapshots of certain individuals, create a
new dynamic between book and reader. By using the form of...show more content...
Art shows the obsessive compulsive aspects of Vladek with intensity. As you listen to Vladek's
story, you begin to understand his driving need to keep everything. Living in an infested prison
with little food and drink, he had to learn to survive. With small tokens from his life before
Auschwitz, Art began to make allies and trade for food and clothing. Teaching English to a guard
and acquiring some basic necessities for survival, as a tinsmith he found people to trade for food
and gave gifts to his Kapo to gain favor and better treatment, he even fixed the boots of his wife's
Kapo and afterwards his wife was no longer treated so poorly. Vladek had to salvage anything that
might be of value to someone else and eventually was even able to move his wife closer so he
could keep an eye on her. Soon his obsession with saving anything he can get his hands on starts to
make sense. As you take in the story of Auschwitz, there are moments when you realize how
easily he Vladek is telling the story. He describes times when the prisoners are inspected for
health and if they pass they are sent back to the barracks to continue working and if they are too
sick then they are removed from the camp. Art uses the smokestack to represent those who are
taken away and sent to the gas chamber, the devastating image is chilling and leaves a bad feeling
in the pit of your stomach. It is such a simple drawing, small

Information Technology Essay
Information technology is a rapidly growing part of today's society. It affects everyone's life in many
aspects. Every human endeavor is influenced by information technology and the increasing rate at
which what it can perform includes. One area of human endeavor that information technology has
greatly influenced is the practice of medicine, specifically veterinary medicine. Not only has
veterinary medicine been influenced by information technology, it has also been enhanced by it. The
degree to which the practice of veterinary medicine includes information technology is observable at

Working, volunteering and interning are all acceptable ways to gain experience in the field of
veterinary medicine. The reason behind schools requiring experience is to ensure that the student
knows what they are getting into before they spend thousands of dollars (approx. $20,000/yr.) and
at least four years of their life in an extremely intensive academic environment. Many people have
an altered idea of what being a vet is about. A lot of physical and emotion endurance is necessary to
be a successful veterinarian. Many people are unaware of that.
The specific undergraduate course requirements to get into a school of veterinary medicine vary
between the schools. All of them are science intensive. Most require a well–rounded education. The
University of California at Davis school of veterinary medicine requires one year of general
biology, one year of general chemistry, one year of organic chemistry, and one year of physics as
far as lower division requirements. Upper division requirements include a semester of
biochemistry, a semester of systemic physiology, a semester of vertebrate embryology, and a
semester of genetics. On top of that they want their applicants to have taken courses in English
composition, humanities, social sciences as well as statistics. Simply taking these courses is not
enough, they need to be completed with a GPA above a 2.5. However, the competition has an
average GPA of 3.45. The

Weekly Portfolio Analysis
For this Weekly Writing Portfolio, I have chosen the pieces that is m proud of. The first piece that
I have chosen is about a girl who wakes up in a shed with no memory of the days before. I wrote this
fictional story for two weeks, August 15–21. When I first started writing, I got so many ideas, that I
couldn't stop myself. So, I ended up writing for almost three hours! It was only after I finished that
I noticed how long I had been writing. I decided to share my story for two weeks, since it was so
long. I have chosen this piece because it was the first weekly writing I completed, and I believe I
have improved this semester. The next piece is haiku poems that I wrote for September 19. I
actually only ended up writing seven poems in an hour, because it was harder than I thought it would
be. I decided to wrote poems this week because it was the time you have said to get out of our
comfort zones and try something new. I had to research the rules of haiku poems, because I had
totally forgotten . The reason I chose this piece is because it was the first time I tried something
new, and I don't think it turned out to be a complete failure. The third piece is a first person
narrative story, which I wrote on September 26. This story is about a few friends who are having a
sleepover. Even though this story is not based on a real sleepover, the events seem very likely to
happen. I have chosen this piece because I really enjoyed writing this narration....show more

Life is Australia is very difficult for her. She barely finishes high school, she starts doing drugs, and
ultimately becomes homeless. When she comes back to Iran she expects to fit in. However, due to
her separation from the society for so long Marjane has difficulty fitting into society (Satrapi 268).
She has a more westernized culture and her old friends do not understand her anymore (270). I found
it interesting that Marjane could not relate to her home culture. She has difficulty with enculturation.
Enculturation is "the process by which individuals learn and adapt to ways and manners of their
specific culture" (Matsumoto and Juang 59). Since Marjane is separated from her family she did not
have contact with socialization and enculturation agents. socialization and enculturation agents are
"the people, institutions, and organizations that exist to help ensure that socialization and
enculturation occur" (60). Since Marjane was separated from her culture during her adolescence,
the most formative years of her life, she is unable to relate to the society. Her time outside of Iran
also broadened her perspective. She sees the world through a westernized lense and has difficulty
reverting back to her childhood ideals and

My Vocabulary: The Evolution Of A Writer
My writing is strong in several areas: I compose dynamic titles, I construct united paragraphs, and I
utilize colorful vocabulary. For example, "The Evolution of a Writer" seizes a reader's attention
while inciting questions of the cause of the writer's evolution. My paragraphs are brought together in
a cohesive manner, each providing support for the thesis and linking to the paragraphs that precede
and follow. As for vocabulary, I employ words such as fervent, genesis, and henceforth with ease.
While I had previous knowledge of the aforementioned strengths, there were two areas I had not
expected to excel in: writing a thesis and writing a conclusion. Though I received positive comments
on both areas, neither have been points of strength

Weasel Words In Advertising
Advertisements are used everywhere. On average, the human body sees anywhere from 4,000 to
10,000 advertisements a day. There are so many advertisements exposed to us that most of the
time we do not even process them. Sometimes companies will use a tactic called weasel words to
make their product more appealing to consumers. Weasel words are a way to get around false
advertisement. One company that has used weasel words in their advertisements is Trident gum.
They use words like "up to" or "help" to try and say that their product can do something it can not
do. Using weasel words like this makes the consumer believe that the company is trying to make
a valid claim when, in fact, it is making no claim at all. Without using weasel words, they could
not say a lot of things that their gum can "do." Advertisement companies use many different tools
to make their product more appealing and more eye popping to customers. Trident gum, for
example, uses a bright blue background. This is pleasant on the eyes and represents a light and
happy mood. They also use bold white writing. This is to make their message more noticeable to
consumers. In the middle of the of the advertisement, they have a pack of mint Trident gum. They
put it center in the middle to show what they are trying to sell the buyer. Above the pack of gum it
says a smart slogan "cavities send us hate mail." Under the pack of gum is says "helps fight
cavities, super useful." All together this ad is trying to make you feel

Argumentative Writing Rough Draft
Outline, planning, revising, rough and final draft, grading. This is the typical process for writing
an essay, I however as a young high school student never followed this. I started with an idea in
my head and go on from there. I never considered a need to plan and prepare an outline, just to
write a rough draft that I would have to revise, draft, and draft again. It would just be easier to start
writing the final draft first right? No. This class has taught me many strategies on how to accustom
my writing to a college level. Over the semester in this class I have grown, learned how to effectively
draft, and experienced argumentative writing first hand.
I, over the semester, have grown in both literacy and critical thinking. A direct comment from Mr.
Gish on the first essay I wrote for the class was "Nice reading!" to this sentence in the essay "This
continues to show that people in poverty aren't charity cases, but rather they are human beings.".
This comment, along with others, shows me that I am capable to effectively write in one of the
worst essays that I have written. The reason for this growth was the support of both my friends and
family. My father would help me with grammatical errors and final revision decisions in some
essays. This growth happened slowly with a lot of effort put towards it. An example from my first
essay is "First and foremost, Gordon Park's imagery throughout his composition." this is the topic

  • 1. Complete Persepolis Essay The book, The Complete Persepolis is a book that was written by Marjane Satrapi and is a 341–page comic book that is a memoir of Satrapi's childhood and of her growing up during the Islamic Revolution. It was a time period that was very devastating for families, because so many families were ruined with all the violence going on. Constantly, where Marjane lived, was being bombed over and over, which created an environment so devastating that all the people could only focus on one thing and that is survival. Marjane was put in a tough spot, unlike most kids her age because of instead of her family moving out of Iran for safety, it was her that had to move for her safety. Not only does it affect her but it affects her family with the idea of...show more content... There were a lot more characters discussed in the memoir, but these ones were the most discussed. Marj is the protagonist of the book and also the narrator of telling us how her life proceeded during the revolution. Her father played a huge role in Marj life because he wanted the best for her even if that meant her moving to different country and not see her for a while. He also supports her opposing ways which caused controversy with his wife believing the opposite. Her mother also was important because she was more of the stricter parent between the two. She felt that Marj needed to focus on being safe rather than her going the way that could cause bad consequences. One of them was when she was expelled. Marj would always disagree with the teacher and voice her opinion and the mother felt that was a bad way because it caused her to be expelled. The next character that played an important role was her grandmother. She was important because she was always there for Marj even when the two had a fight over the fact of Marj sending an innocent man to prison. Once they could agree to talk to one another, she got Marj to pursue the divorce and have be a free woman. The last character is her uncle Anoosh. He was important to Marj and her childhood because Marj thought he was a hero for standing up to the government. He was later prisoned and executed for being a Russian Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Macro-Level Practice Skill: Needs Assessment Macro–level practice skill: Needs assessment Conducting an effective needs assessment is a critical component of working as a sociologist. Needs assessment requires an understanding of the needs of the community which the agency is designed to serve. Methods of needs assessment will vary depending on the resources of the organization. In my case, it involved reviewing the relevant statistical data available from government agencies about the general population along with conducting more informal qualitative interviews of the community. Needs assessment may also entail a review of the relevant scholarly literature on different ways similar communities have been served. "Needs assessment is the formal process of identifying needs as gaps between current and desired results, placing those needs in priority order based on the cost to meet each need versus the cost for ignoring it, and selecting the most important needs (problems or opportunities) for reduction or elimination" (Leigh 2000). • 3. Reflection Paper About English Composition English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not one to organize my essays in an ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Now with taking the course, I have learned to organize my essays, examine research for a topic, and develop an essay with proper mechanics, and revising skills. In writing my personal, review, analytical, and cultural...show more content... I then described my life and who I was. After describing this, I explained my experiences in confronting racism. The point of the essay was to state that racism is still alive and can be present anywhere. After writing this essay, I learned that my mechanics and style was not where it should be. Even with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several spelling mistakes. I looked to improve my mechanics after writing this essay. With writing my review essay of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's album The Bigger Artist. The essay took some time to write because of the research I needed to gather. In this essay I used more citations and quotes. I made mistakes the mechanics in writing the quotes. This was the first essay in which we used sources, so it was challenging to create my own ideas but I was able to do it. Writing this essay improved my knowledge of mechanics in citations and quotations. Through taking the course, I learned to utilizes sources in a more efficient way. In writing my analytical essay of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly I had to use ten sources. All the sources I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were needed to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who created the source and decide if it was credible. I would hope this is not a dilemma many of us will face, especially since getting our graduate degree requires a lot of dedication. aPy takes time and developing a good writing habit also come along with time. As you alluded to writing a draft may be a good idea, this way you can have that first draft proofread for errors. I remember when I started writing I use to have my paper proofread by the most anal person ever and even though it was frustrate the amount of errors they found it helped improve my writing. I was also taught how to write a full five paragraph essay with supporting points under a time constraint. Gathering my thoughts and presenting them in short time was difficult, but it was great practice for future essays. Furthermore, I studied different pieces of literature and learned how to discuss the themes and symbolism. • 6. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. • 8. Rough Draft Process Analysis When beginning to write an essay everyone has their own method of doing so. Some may like to brainstorm while others may prefer to go straight into writing about their topic. I personally beginning every essay by collecting ideas about my topic before coordinating them into a type of diagram, next I proceed to do my rough draft before revising over the paper and finally composing my final draft. The point of the writing process is to help break everything down so ideas can be organized and everything can make perfect sense for not just the writer but also the reader. Writing an essay can be difficult if a person does not know how or where to begin. I personally believe the first step of writing is to list down ideas about the topic. After...show more content... Proofreading and revising is a very crucial step in the writing process. If a person does not proofread then the essay they worked on may not make sense and may overall confuse the reader. Using correct punctuation shows how sentences are supposed to be read. Once I have made sure all my sentences are grammatically correct I then compose my final copy of the essay. Writing can be difficult if not done correctly. That is why there is a writing process to follow. Using some type of way to group ideas together help coordinate how the essay will go. Then once the ideas are put together the rough draft can be formed and edited. After everything has been writing accordantly the essay can then be turned in. • 9. The Importance Of Writing Process In Writing After this semester I feel that I've not only developed into a better writer but also have grasped a better understanding of the writing process, which is arguably most important; having a solid foundation for my writing technique is the key to writing well. Throughout middle school and high school, I have always been told to use the "five paragraph format" when writing essays, but now that I'm in college, I understand that I have been limiting my creativity and not expressing my opinions and ideas to their fullest extent. To be a good writer, I must put time and effort into my topic and fully understand the main idea to write a satisfactory essay. So far, I feel as if I'm doing alright. `When I first begin the writing process I always start by typing out the full story. Personally, I can't sit down and plan what I'm going to write about; formal drafting makes me feel as if I have writers' block. Over the years I have taken bits and pieces of advice about my writing and incorporated those snippets of guidance and suggestions into what my writing style is today. I don't think I'm a bad writer, but I could work on developing more of my essays into "A cakes." In the narrative essay, I chose a topic that most of my peers could relate to and a topic that was very important to me personally. Being a new driver is exciting, however, it also is potentially very dangerous, and I really wanted to capture that in my writing. Your feedback stated that I needed to use more vivid Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A well written story will describe the images clearly so that you can easily picture the details. In Art Spiegelman's The Complete Maus, the use of the animals in place of the humans offers a rather comical view in its simplistic relation to the subject and at the same time develops a cryptic mood within the story. His drawings of living conditions in Auschwitz; expressions on the faces of people enduring torture, starvation, and despair; his experience with the mental institution and his mother's suicide; and occasional snapshots of certain individuals, create a new dynamic between book and reader. Teaching English to a guard and acquiring some basic necessities for survival, as a tinsmith he found people to trade for food and gave gifts to his Kapo to gain favor and better treatment, he even fixed the boots of his wife's Kapo and afterwards his wife was no longer treated so poorly. Vladek had to salvage anything that might be of value to someone else and eventually was even able to move his wife closer so he could keep an eye on her. Soon his obsession with saving anything he can get his hands on starts to make sense. As you take in the story of Auschwitz, there are moments when you realize how easily he Vladek is telling the story. He describes times when the prisoners are inspected for health and if they pass they are sent back to the barracks to continue working and if they are too sick then they are removed from the camp. The first piece that I have chosen is about a girl who wakes up in a shed with no memory of the days before. I wrote this fictional story for two weeks, August 15–21. When I first started writing, I got so many ideas, that I couldn't stop myself. So, I ended up writing for almost three hours! It was only after I finished that I noticed how long I had been writing. • 17. Weasel Words In Advertising Advertisements are used everywhere. On average, the human body sees anywhere from 4,000 to 10,000 advertisements a day. There are so many advertisements exposed to us that most of the time we do not even process them. Sometimes companies will use a tactic called weasel words to make their product more appealing to consumers. Weasel words are a way to get around false advertisement. One company that has used weasel words in their advertisements is Trident gum. They use words like "up to" or "help" to try and say that their product can do something it can not do. Using weasel words like this makes the consumer believe that the company is trying to make a valid claim when, in fact, it is making no claim at all. Without using weasel words, they could not say a lot of things that their gum can "do." Advertisement companies use many different tools to make their product more appealing and more eye popping to customers. Trident gum, for example, uses a bright blue background. This is pleasant on the eyes and represents a light and happy mood. They also use bold white writing. This is to make their message more noticeable to consumers. In the middle of the of the advertisement, they have a pack of mint Trident gum. They put it center in the middle to show what they are trying to sell the buyer. Above the pack of gum it says a smart slogan "cavities send us hate mail." Under the pack of gum is says "helps fight cavities, super useful." This is the typical process for writing an essay, I however as a young high school student never followed this. I started with an idea in my head and go on from there. I never considered a need to plan and prepare an outline, just to write a rough draft that I would have to revise, draft, and draft again. It would just be easier to start writing the final draft first right? No. This class has taught me many strategies on how to accustom my writing to a college level. Over the semester in this class I have grown, learned how to effectively draft, and experienced argumentative writing first hand. I, over the semester, have grown in both literacy and critical thinking. A direct comment from Mr. Gish on the first essay I wrote for the class was "Nice reading!" to this sentence in the essay "This continues to show that people in poverty aren't charity cases, but rather they are human beings.". This comment, along with others, shows me that I am capable to effectively write in one of the worst essays that I have written. The reason for this growth was the support of both my friends and family. My father would help me with grammatical errors and final revision decisions in some essays. They will learn to sit, roll over, and crawl before moving on to pulling up and standing. From then on, it's a matter of gaining confidence and balance before they start walking. They will fall over and over again but likewise, they will try over and over again until they're off and eventually running. High school for me was like a baby's first year when it's preparing to start walking and this quarter in EWRT 211 was when I gave the first baby steps. With more practice, I'll be walking with ease in no time. I believe I will be successful in EWRT 1A. I am ready for EWRT 1A Get more content on HelpWriting.net
