The project upgrades four Adelaide-class guided missile frigates to provide improved anti-ship missile defense, electronic support, tactical data linking, underwater warfare systems, ship service generators, and onboard training systems. It covers extensive technology including new combat system architecture, multi-function consoles, improved radars and software integration. Key milestones include provisional and final acceptance of each upgraded frigate between 2006-2009. Risks include the specification developing after contract signature and heavy reliance on overseas vendors.
