Magicians and con artists have a long history. Magicians date back to ancient Greece where they were admired and had statues erected in their honor. Some of the most famous modern magicians include David Copperfield, the highest paid magician, and Harry Houdini, the first magician honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. While magicians entertain, con artists mislead for personal gain. Crime statistics show over 80,000 prisoners in the UK with males outnumbering females over 21 to 1 and the cost of organized crime estimated at £40 billion annually. Public opinions of magicians and con artists vary from admiration to calls for legal action.
