2. Cover
Page
This is my final cover design, I have tried to keep the cover looking simple as I think it looks more
attractive and professional,, but this may change because there is lots of gaps on the cover which could
give of the impression that the magazine doesn’t have much content. I have placed the masthead at the
top of the page so that PULSE is recognised as the magazine name because it is conventional to have the
masthead at the top of the cover.
3. Contents
Page
Above is the drawn design of my cover design, this layout is similar to NME’s which I came across whilst
researching contents pages. I liked this design because it made finding specific content easy because it split
the content into different sections like Reviews and News. I used a second plug on the mid-right hand side of
the page which will give a more detailed description of a story, as it will hopefully make the reader want to
read on
4. DPS
In my DPS design I followed most of the conventions used on other big magazines double page spreads like having one
paged dedicated to an image relating to the story. I have split the article into 3 columns to make it seem like less text so
the reader wont get bored reading it. This design is very simplistic so I may adapt it very slightly by either adding a
different image or place text differently. However I believe that DPS’s that are very busy and full don’t look as good
compared to less busy ones, but the DPS mainly relies on a good article to make it a Good DPS.
