2. This graph shows that most of the people that completed the questionnaire were females and as females are more likely to be interested in pop music, my magazine will be mainly targeted towards them. The fact that there was not a lot more males does not have a big impact towards my magazine as it was already aimed for young, teenage girls.
3. This graph shows that the majority of the people that completed the questionnaire were aged from 16 – 20. No one aged less than 11 completed the questionnaire and this is not surprising as it was internet based and I would not have expected someone younger than 11 to be on the internet completing it. Although the majority were aged 16 – 20 I have decided that my main target audience will be girls aged 11 -16.
4. This graph shows the type of music the people that completed the questionnaire listen to. As you can see the most popular type of music was ‘R&B’ then ‘Hip Hop’, ‘Rap’ and ‘Rock’ then ‘Pop’. This shows my target audience is a ‘niche market’ and although Pop is not the most popular, it is aimed at people who do enjoy it and therefore I think I’ll be able to make a significant amount of money through them.
5. This graph shows how many of the people that completed the questionnaire’s parents work for a living. This question was a open ended question and the people were asked to write down what job their parents do. The most common job was ‘teacher’ and then manual work such as ‘building’. This shows that there’s quite a mixture of different social classes and backgrounds. Knowing this will help me decided how much my target audience will be more likely to spend.
6. This graph shows how much money my target audience will be likely to spend on a music magazine. As you can see the most they are likely to spend on the magazine is up to £1 which is not surprising for they’re age group. Because they wont spend a lot of money on the music magazine it will mean that my music magazine will not need to contain a lot of information.
7. This pie chart shows how many times a week the person filling out the questionnaire buys magazines. As you can see the majority of the people ‘Never’ buy a magazine and around a quarter ‘Rarely’ buy it or ‘Sometimes’ buy it. They were was some that ‘Occasionally’ bought magazines and ‘Often’ bought them which is good news because I now know how many times a week someone is likely to buy a magazine.
8. This graph shows what kind of content the people that completed the questionnaire would like to see in my music magazine. As you can see most people prefer short articles, lots of pictures and gossip columns. Those that had other ideas wrote that they would like to see sports, horoscopes and real life stories. I think including some celebrity trivia and quizzes will also be good because many young girls will love to do them.
9. This graph shows what the participants favourite colours are. As you can see the most popular one was Red and then Blue. Therefore I have decided that my colour scheme for the magazine will be Red, Blue and White. I think this will go well with the name of my magazine, ‘Candy Music’ as it will be very bright and colourful and will appeal to a larger audience.
10. This graph shows what kind of prizes or gifts the participants taking part in the questionnaire would like to win in my music magazine. The most popular option was winning tickets to concerts and then it was signed items such as CDs and autographs. Other suggests that some of the participants offered were winning phones and money. I have decided that I will change the prizes weekly but mainly give them a chance to win concert tickets.
11. This graph shows the kind of artist the participants that completed the questionnaire would like to be featured in. As you can see they mostly wanted singers and bands to be featured instead of actors and dancers. They wanted female singers more than male singers and boy bands more than girl bands. Other options for artists to be featured were grime artists and underground artists.
13. This graph shows what children aged 5 – 14 spend their time doing on the internet. The majority of these children spend their time on educational activities and playing online games. Almost half (47.1%) use the internet to listen or download music. This is good for me as I now know that if I advertise my magazine on the internet and on music websites, nearly 50% of my target audience will be likely to see it.
14. This is shows what people aged over 16 spend their time doing a day for both males and females. The bit I am mostly interested in is the amount of time they spend on leisure activities. As you can see males spend more time overall on leisure activities rather than females. But females do spend more time reading and on social life and entertainment culture.
