other using media devices such as phones and the
internet.
It allows communities to form without the constriction
of the real world i.e. where you are.
4. New media has enabled media to become social because of
the advance in technologies. What makes social media
attractive is the ability to connect with those you may not in
real life and friends around the world.

such as newspapers and letters as now media is on demand;
You don’t have to wait for shows which allows more people to
control their media experience.
5. Television and radio can be seen as social media as they
have become more interactive, for instance, participation
TV has allowed viewers to be more involved with the show
they are watching.
- X Factor & Big Brother allow their viewers to decide
which act or housemate leaves the show.
- Million Pound Drop allows viewers to play the game live
online at the same time as the participants on the show.
- Radio gives you the option to call or text in about your
problems and talk to presenters. Radio stations are
linked with their website, which allows them to be more
of an interactive experience.
6. Social Media allows users to be more connected to the
outside world in real time; the news comes to you
through Facebook or Twitter.
Social media is different as it gives users control over
their media diet, allowing them to personalise their
consumption over a daily basis.
