1. ♫ Turn on your speakers! CLICK TO ADVANCE SLIDES Tommy's Window Slideshow Christians --Poem by Carol Wimmer When I say, "I am a Christian"
2. When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not shouting, "I've been saved!" I'm whispering, "I get lost! That's why I chose this way"
3. When I say, "I am a Christian," I don't speak with human pride I'm confessing that I stumble- needing God to be my guide
4. When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not trying to be strong I'm professing that I'm weak And pray for strength to carry on
5. When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not bragging of success I'm admitting that I've failed And cannot ever pay the debt
6. When I say, "I am a Christian," I don't think I know it all I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught
7. When I say, "I am a Christian," I'm not claiming to be perfect My flaws are far too visible but God believes I'm worth it
8. When I say, "I am a Christian," I still feel the sting of pain I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His name
9. When I say, "I am a Christian," I do not wish to judge I have no authority-- I only know I'm loved
10. The New Testament says, “ And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” --Acts 11:26 KJV The ‘disciples’ of the New Testament were followers of the Teachings of Jesus. So, to truly be a ‘Christian’ you must live and practice Jesus’ Teachings. What is a Christian? Then said Jesus… “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Church membership does not make you a Christian any more than owning a piano makes you a musician. Spending a few hours in a mechanic shop does not make you a mechanic, nor does spending a few hours a week in a church building make you a Christian. John 8:31-32 KJV
11. Jesus said: "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:35 Share this with somebody who already has this understanding, as reinforcement. But more importantly, share this with those who do not have a clear understanding of what it means to be a true Christian, so that the myth that Christians think they are "perfect" or "better than others” can be dispelled.
