The Compassion of the LORD
55 ―Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend your money for
that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not
satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is
good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3 Incline your ear, and come to me;
hear, that your soul may live;
and I will make with you an everlasting
covenant,
my steadfast, sure love forDavid.
4 Behold, I made him a witness to the
peoples,
a leader and commander for the
peoples.
5 Behold, you shall call a nation that
you do not know,
and a nation that did not know you
shall run to you,
because of the LORD your God, and of
the Holy One of Israel,
for he has glorified you.
6 ―Seek the LORD while he may be
found;
call upon him while he is near;
7 let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the LORD, that he may
have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly
pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,
declares the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the
earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

The Parable of the Wedding
Feast
22 And again Jesus spoke to
them in parables, saying, 2 ―The
kingdom of heaven may be
compared to a king who gave a
wedding feast for his son, 3
andsent his servants[a] to call
those who were invited to the
wedding feast, but they would
not come. 4 Again he sent other
servants, saying, ‗Tell those who
are invited, ―See, I have
prepared mydinner, my oxen and
my fat calves have been
slaughtered, and everything is
ready. Come to the wedding
murderers and burned their city.
8 Then he said to his servants,
‗The wedding feast is ready, but
those invited were not worthy. 9
Go therefore to the main roads
and invite to the wedding feast
as many as you find.‘ 10 And
those servants went out into the
roads andgathered all whom they
found, both bad and good. So the
wedding hall was filled with
guests.
11 ―But when the king came in
to look at the guests, he saw
there a man who had no wedding
garment. 12 And he said to him,
‗Friend, how did you get in here
without a wedding garment?‘
9. Matthew 21:33-44
PsThe Parable of the Tenants
33 ―Hear another parable. There was a
master of a house who planted a vineyard
and put a fence around it and dug a
winepress in it and built a tower and
leased it to tenants, and went into another
country. 34 When the season for fruit
drew near, he sent his servants[a]to the
tenants to get his fruit. 35 And the tenants
took his servants and beat one, killed
another, and stoned another.36 Again he
sent other servants, more than the first.
And they did the same to them. 37 Finally
he sent his son to them, saying, ‗They
will respect my son.‘ 38 But when the
tenants saw the son, they said to
themselves, ‗This is the heir. Come, let us
kill him and have his inheritance.‘ 39 And
they took him and threw him out of the
vineyard and killed him. 40 When
therefore the owner of the vineyard
comes, what will he do to those tenants?‖
41 They said to him,―He will put those
wretches to a miserable death and let out
the vineyard to other tenants who will
give him the fruits in their seasons.‖
42 Jesus said to them, ―Have you never
read in the Scriptures:
―‗The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;[b]
this was the Lord's doing,
and it is marvelous in our eyes‘?
43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of
God will be taken away from you and
given to a people producing its fruits.44
And the one who falls on this stone will
be broken to pieces; and when it falls on
anyone, it will crush him.‖[c]
10. Psalm 27:1-9
The LORD Is My Light and My
Salvation
Of David.
27 The LORD is my light and mysalvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold[a] of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it is they who stumble and fall.
3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet[b] I will be confident.
4 One thing have I asked of theLORD,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of theLORD
and to inquire[c] in his temple.
5 For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his
tent;
he will lift me high upon a rock.
6 And now my head shall be lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the LORD.
7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud;
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, ―Seek[d] my face.‖
My heart says to you,
―Your face, LORD, do I seek.‖[e]
9 Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
O God of my salvation!

Jesus Invites Us to His Wedding Feast to Receive Abundant Righteousness
The Holy Spirit sounds forth the Gospel call: “See, I have prepared my dinner ... Come to
the wedding feast” (Matt. 22:1–14). But many reject this invitation in favor of worldly
pursuits. And so the call goes out to others, both the good and the bad. For the wedding
invitation is not based on the qualifications of those invited but on the basis of the merits
and work of Christ. The feast is free: “He who has no money, come, buy and eat ... delight
yourselves in rich food.” (Is. 55:1–9). Those rejecting the Spirit‘s work shall experience
God‘s wrath and judgment. Those who are not clothed in Christ‘s righteousness shall be
cast into outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Let us
therefore seek the Lord while He may be found, for He will have mercy upon us. Let us
redeem the time, being filled with the Spirit, giving thanks always for all things to God the
Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 5:15–21).

John 4:46-51 Jesus Heals an Official's Son
46 So he came again to Cana in Galilee,where he had made the
water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son
was ill. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had come from
Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down
and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 So Jesus
said to him, ―Unless you[a] see signs and wonders you will not
believe.‖49 The official said to him, ―Sir, come down before
my child dies.‖ 50 Jesus said to him, ―Go; your son will live.‖
The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went
on his way. 51 As he was going down, his servants[b] met him
and told him that his son was recovering.
Psalm 8 How Majestic Is Your Name
To the choirmaster: according to TheGittith.[a] A Psalm of
David.
8 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that youcare for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly
beings[b]
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
