2. WHAT IS CANCER?
Cancer is the disease caused by an uncontrolled
division of abnormal cells in a part of the body.
Cancer causes lumps, or tumors of uncontrollably
growing cells that are deadly.
3. WHAT CAUSES LUNG CANCER?
Smoking is the number one cause of lung cancer.
A person who smokes more than one pack of
cigarettes per day has a 20-25 times greater risk of
developing lung cancer than someone who has
never smoked.
Air pollution, second hand smoke, and asbestos are
also causes of lung cancer.
4. PREVENTION
By far the most important thing you can do to
prevent lung cancer is never smoke.
Taking medicines to treat a precancerous condition
or to keep cancer from starting.
Changing lifestyle or eating habits.
Avoiding things known to cause cancer.
5. SYMPTOMS
Early cancer does not usually have any symptoms .
Some symptoms of lung cancer are:
Chest pain
Cough that doesn't go away
Coughing up blood
Fatigue
Losing weight without trying
Shortness of breath
6. CURRENT RESEARCH
Currently doctors are researching on ways to
prevent lung cancer, better ways to treat it, and how
take care of people who have lung cancer.
Doctors are experimenting things like better
radiation therapy, better screening, and better
surgery techniques.
7. INTERVIEW
Doctor Jay Lee is a doctor researching the same
things as the Current Research, this is important
because finding better techniques, surgeries, cures
could greatly reduce the amount of deaths caused
by lung cancer.
