Jaipuria Institute of Management has been
conferred the coveted 'Excellence in Education-
2013' honour from Competition Success Review
for creating a space for itself in imparting Quality
Management education in Delhi/NCR. At a
glittering ceremony organized by Competition
Success Review, a leading magazine (by
Readership and Circulation) of the country, on
23rd April, at hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi,
Managing Director S.K. Sachdeva gave this
prestigious award to Jaipuria Institute of
Management. Director of JIM, Prof. Daviender
Narang was present on the occasion to receive
the honour. Besides JIM, other institutes that got
this award were, IIM (Rohtak), NITIE (Mumbai),
University of Petroleum & Energy (Dehradun) etc.

Assuring Quality Education in Management
Jaipuria Institute of Management assures quality managers and

2. Indian economy in general and banking services in particular
have made rapid strides in the recent past. However, a sizeable
section of the population, particularly the vulnerable groups,
such as weaker sections and low income groups, continue to
remain excluded from even the most basic opportunities and
services provided by the financial sector. To address the issue of
such financial exclusion in a holistic manner, it is essential to
ensure that a range of financial services is available to every
individual. The first-ever Index of Financial Inclusion to find out
the extent of reach of banking services among 100 countries,
India has been ranked 50. Only 34% of Indian individuals have
access to or receive banking services. Financial inclusion is
delivery of banking services at an affordable cost to the vast
sections of disadvantaged and low income groups. Unrestrained
access to public goods and services is the sine qua non of an
open and efficient society. While there are reservations about
the efficacy of MFIs in handling public money, their growth and
achievements demand attention and appreciation. With
increasing demand for rural finance, and the inadequacies of
formal sources, the MFIs have immense opportunities in the
new avatar of micro credit in India. However, in the light of
recent experiences, Students in India have a constructive role to
play in nation building. Therefore, it is proposed to select a few
of them as pioneers on an experimental basis, guide them to
engage themselves in transforming the lives of the economically
poor and illiterate families in the neighborhood of Colleges to
positively contribute towards this national goal. These students
will ultimately become instruments of social change, in
accordance with the objectives of education itself. In the
process, they begin to understand the very purpose of studying
‘banking’ or ‘finance’ or ‘economics’ as a subject and are aware
of suitable banking and insurance products to recommend and
deliver, to bring about desired positive changes in real life of
the weaker sections. The method is application of the theory
into practice to promote social welfare.
