3. Ten Facts The zebra has the shape of a horse There are 3 types of zebras which you can tell apart by their stripes. Zebras live in mixed herds such as with gnus and antelopes They feed on tough grass also bulbs and rhizomes (underground stems) During dry seasons the zebras can travel 100 or more miles to get food Its common to see a gnu standing next to sleeping zebra. Zebras usually graze in herds of 100 Zebras are a very ranked and organized community. The real social unit usually include 10 animals There is 1 adult stallion with 5 or 6 females plus their young The strongest female leads and the stallion brings up the rear
