2. History of SHADE
! Established in 1999 by Tembo Kalenga, David Ilunga, and
Greg Andrews
! Began through the Woodstock Methodist Church and still
maintains a strong bond
! Due to personal experiences of displacement, the vision of
SHADE was born!
! By Linking with other displaced peoples in South Africa, the
connections with the rest of the continent were made,
creating SHADE’s Sister 2 Sister Project
! Because of the huge number of at-risk children around the
area, SHADE began it’s youth program, Le Berceau (The
Cradle)
