Political Science 5 - Western Political Thought provides an overall perspective of major political movements of history from the rising of Egyptian, Greek and Roman Empires to Fascism and Communism as seen by great political thinkers from Plato, Aristotle, and St. Augustine, Machiavelli, Marx, and Lenin. Students will analyze the most important ideas and theories that have been developed from the time of the ancient Greeks to the present day. Students will learn that the American Founding Fathers designed a viable representative government by first dedicating themselves to careful study of the political philosophy of Europeans, with particular attention given to British political thinkers from the 16th and 17th century. The founding fathers focused primarily on the natural rights of man, which in turn varied according to the individual philosopher studied. Over the course of their study, the founding fathers openly discussed their opinions with one another so as to properly bring forth differing views in order to prudently construct a government that would protect individual liberty, as well as determine what was required of government to protect civil liberties. The class is taught from the perspective of industry professionals with knowledge of how classical and modern political continues to influence American government. Students will learn of multiple career options relating to the field of political science.

Fixing the Issues with American Politics Is American politics in disarray? According to a recent survey of Harvard Business School graduates, the answer may be yes, and the unstable political climate may be one of the biggest dangers to American competitiveness. Wajid khan Mp says In a poll on American competitiveness, alumni were asked about 17 aspects of the business climate, and 60 percent of them responded that the "efficacy of the political system" was poorer in the US than in other advanced nations. Only the "complexity of the tax code" was evaluated more negatively, receiving low scores from 61% of those polled. What justifies their worry? According to studies on the American political system, there are currently more significant differences between the two competing views of government in Congress than ever before. Many people in the media and Congress lament the overly ideological nature of the country's politics. As Wajid khan mentioned the co-chair of the super committee formed to reduce the budget deficit, Congressman Jeb Hensarling has stated, "The committee did not succeed because we were unable to bridge the gap between two profoundly divergent conceptions of the role that government should play in a free society." Although there has been much finger-wagging about the ideological gap, it is unclear whether it is the real cause of the breakdown. If you study American history carefully, you'll discover that profound philosophical divisions are nothing new and that some of the most politically charged periods resulted in significant policy advancements, frequently delivering the best ideas from opposing viewpoints. This dynamic that combines the most remarkable aspects of both worlds may contribute to America's economic success. Politicians' rising propensity to prioritize winning over all else To treat politics like war—runs antithetical to fundamental democratic principles and may be impeding Washington's capacity to find solutions that draw on the best ideas from all sides of the political spectrum. It is crucial to revitalizing the democratic culture of the country. Business executives must be vital since the financial stakes are so high. Competition Encouraged Development The conflict between opposing political ideologies is as old as America itself (it was already visible, for example, in the great debates between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton). Canadian Politician Wajid khan discusses. There are two typical viewpoints.

One is based on a fundamental mistrust of government, especially the federal government; one believes that it is ineffective, intrusive, and susceptible to corruption and that its interference in private affairs is frequently destructive. The other personifies a practical faith in the ability of government to serve society—a conviction that it can be used for good and that the public sector, despite its flaws, can be used to address issues that people and private businesses cannot manage on their own. Table of Contents Chapter 14 America in Our Time, 1992–Present The end of the Cold War and the disintegration of the Soviet Union left the United States as the only military superpower. Some hoped that the nation would respond with massive reductions in military spending, perhaps even an “America first” policy that was similar to the isolationism of earlier periods in US history. Taxpayers had spent $4 trillion building nuclear weapons and trillions more maintaining its military and fighting proxy wars around the globe. Two generations had lost their lives fighting in wars many believed were a mistake and for causes that seemed no longer relevant. Others hoped that America would use its unrivaled military and economic power to promote democracy and human rights around the globe. Still others saw the end of the Cold War as an opportunity for profitable business expansion via globalization. In many ways, each of these ideas affected US diplomacy in the post–Cold War years. However, even after the fall of Communism, US foreign policy was as much a response to the actions of others throughout the globe as it was an attempt by Americans to shape the world around them. A series of economic crises reminded Americans that their economy and their nation were part of a global system. https://2012books.lardbucket.org/books/united-states-history-volume-2/s16-the-reagan-and-bush-years-1980.html https://2012books.lardbucket.org/books/united-states-history-volume-2/s16-the-reagan-and-bush-years-1980.html https://creativecommons.org/?utm_source=fwkcccopy&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=logo https://creativecommons.net/donate/?utm_source=fwkcccopy&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=link http://www.donorschoose.org/?utm_source=fwkcccopy&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=logo http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?utm_source=fwkcccopy&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=link https://2012books.lardbucket.org/books/united-states-history-volume-2/index.html https://2012books.lardbucket.org/books/united-states-history-volume-2/index.html https://2012books.lardbucket.org/books/united-states-history-volume-2/index.html https://2012books.lardbucket.org/books/united-states-history-volume-2/s17-america-in ...

Both the New Deal and Obamacare are examples of corporate liberalism. Neither were socialist nor radical. Both were opposed by both the left and right wings. Both were attempts to prevent truly radical reform. Both faced many problems at the start but ultimately did help many people, though not as much as if they had been true reforms.
