3.4: Exponential and
Logarithmic Equations

 Objective: Solve exponential and
 logarithmic equations.
Strategies for solving logarithmic and
exponential equations:

1) Rewrite in inverse form and use one-to-
one properties

2) For exponential equations, isolate the
base and log both sides.

3) For logarithmic functions, isolate the
log and exponentiate both sides.
Applications!
Ex. 7) You have deposited $1000 in an
account that pays 6.25% interest,
compounded continuously. How long will it
take your money to double?
