1. Assure Day 3
Analyze Learners- There are ten girls and twelve boys in my class of 5th graders with a total of
twenty-two students. None of my students have disabilities but they are all culturally diverse. My
5th grade students have previous knowledge in researching material and working in groups. They
know how to organize information and present it in a clear and concise manner. Most of my
students prefer to work in groups and collaborate together. My 5th graders prefer hand on
activities but they do not have trouble with assigned readings.
State Objectives- My 5ht grade students will have complete knowledge on the importance of
recycling by the end of day 3. The class will watch a video about recycling and then complete a
class blog discussion. The students will then complete a composting lesson and make a
storytelling video on their experience with the lesson in groups of two. By the end of the day, my
class will know important facts about recycling and composting with 100 percent accuracy.
Select Methods, Materials, and Media- The education method of day 3 is individual work
followed by class lecture, lesson, and small group work. The students will use the library
computers to complete their blogs and storytelling video assignment. The class will view the
recycling video on the class TV. The students will have access to cameras to take pictures of the
composting lesson to make their storytelling video.
Utilize Media and Materials- The video shown to the class will be previewed before the
students view it. Their class blog will be closely monitored and the composting lesson will be set
up before the get back from the library. The desks will be assembled so that every student will be
able to view the composting lesson. Each group of students will then have time to make their
storytelling video.
Require Learner Participation- Each student will be required to participate in the class blog
discussion and take part in the composting lesson. Each group will be expected to collaborate
together to make the storytelling movie about their composting lesson.
Evaluate and Revise- I will assess my students by reading their blogs and watching their
storytelling video. Each student will be evaluated on their participation during the composting
lesson.
