20. Positioning
A positioning statement I created for an application
For… families with smart phones and tablets.
Who are dissatisfied with… the static photo output of
current inkjet printers.
Rich Print is a… completely new kind of print.
That provides… you with an economical, environmentally
friendly way to create “video greeting cards”, that can be
consumed by any smart phone or tablet user.
Unlike… any other Inkjet printer manufacturer
We have assembled… a software and content solution for
iOS and Android tablets, that lets you create a
video, securely upload it to Youtube, and print a greeting a
card with a QR code that links back to your video.

When Jean arrived in August of 2010, Kodak had huge gaps in accessibility, connectivity, and platform support. Mobile users could not print documents from their devices, and the printing solution for Mac users was limited. Too many customers could not get to the documents they wanted to print, on the devices they wanted to print from, and send them to their Kodak Printer.Jean’s mission, upon arriving at Kodak, was simple. Provide customers with delightful experiences that would let them print from anywhere, and on any device they wanted to print from.To that end, Jean: Performed primary and secondary research, in order to determine what customers needed Created roadmaps that would address customer needs Sold the roadmap to the organization using research data and business cases Created the success criteria for new solutions Created user stories and wireframes for R&D Worked with R&D to develop new solutions using Agile methodologies Sourced and brought in partners for solutions that Kodak did not want to build Worked with Marcom and Sales to position new solutions – online, on box, and in sales meetings Launched new solutions at CES Created the processes to measure the performance of new solutions, in order to deter
Today, Kodak’s software and connectivity solutions are extremely robust. Kodak applications now allow customers to access documents and photos at most major cloud storage providers Kodak cloud printing services now allow customers to print from any device with an email client and internet access Kodak mobile apps, limited to photo printing from iPhone in 2010, now support document and photo printing on all iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and Blackberry devices. Pic Flick HD let’s users create greeting cards and collages for sharing or printing as well. Kodak PC printing software, once limited to Windows, is now available to Mac users as well. Jean defined the 3D and Video printing features for Home Center, which were used at CES to draw significant attention to Kodak’s booth, and to Kodak’s products. The solutions that Jean has planned and launched over the last two years have allowed Kodak compete effectively in the marketplace, and have helped Kodak innovate and lead as well. Taken as a whole, these solutions have generated tens of millions of dollars in incremental revenue, and have been invaluable to Kodak’s overall value proposition.
