The event will feature films or parts of films from all round the world made by young people (no more than 19
years old) on people / places / subjects that in some way relate to the United Nations "Three Pillars of Freedom"
- freedom from want, freedom from fear and freedom to live in dignity
The format of the morning session is likely to bear some resemblance to New Shoots in terms of grouping young
people round tables to view and discuss the material. It is hoped that a number of the filmmakers will be present
to talk about their work. And in the afternoon, it is hoped that Rageh Omar (or someone with similar standing)
will join us to talk about the experience of making films on important issues that can seek to raise awareness or
promote change. There will be representatives of Charities and NGOs present, too, to hear from young people
about how they would approach making films for this purpose, and it may be that some kind of commissioning
will follow!
