The only constant feature in this world is change.
While all the change may not lead to progress, there
can be no progress without change.
This is true for the individual, institution, organization
or the country.
Civilization owes its existence to change.
The success or even survival of an institution or
organization depends on making necessary changes.
IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION

All religions attaches
education.

great importance to knowledge and

 When the Qur'an began to be revealed, the first word of its first
verse is 'Iqra' that is, read.

A scholar (alim) is accorded great respect in the hadith.
IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION

 “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man” –
(Swami Vivekananda)

They are not students of our generation, where they sit down
and listen. I think things have changed now; they want to explore,
cut and paste.
Innovation is the act of





Innovation is defined as the generation of
new ideas or application of existing ideas
to a new situation resulting in
improvement in organization
Innovation is the action of introducing a
new method, idea or product




RELATIVE ADVANTAGE.
It is the degree to which the new idea is
considered superior to the old one
COMPATIBILITY.
It refers to the degree of congruence
between the innovation and existing
values,habits,past experience and need of
the participant




TRIALABILITY.
it is the degree to which the new idea
can be pretested or tried on a limited
basis
OBSERVABILITY.
It refers to how visible the innovation
is to participants and onlookers
1.

INOVATION TO CENTRAL TO MAINTAINING AND
IMPROVING QUALITY OF CARE

2. GROWING DEMANDS IN HEALTH SERVICES
3. GLOBAL WORKFORCE SHORTAGE
4. CLINICAL RESEARCH AND THEORETICAL RESEARCH

Innovation is to analyze the opportunities or
sources
Innovation is both conceptual and perceptual
It should be simple and focused
Effective innovation start small and they aim to
do one specific thing
Successful innovation aim at being the best
from the very beginning
CHANGE MODEL
READINESS TO CHANGE
Some individuals and organizations are more ready to
affect changes than others.
This depends often on the degree of felt security.
 In turn, it depends on the knowledge
 skill
 attitude
 self confidence
 tolerance to stress
 motivation of the individuals
 It also depends on the security to change. If there is
optimal feeling of security , then the acceptance of
change will be possible
 Change is crucial. Change is a must for progress .

TRADITIONAL METHOD – A ONE WAY FLOW
MULTIMEDIA LEARNING – AN INTERACTIVE
LEARNING PROCESS




Connects students and educators
distance
Connects diverse student groups

across





Adaptation of different distance learning
technologies
Self directed, active learning
Refocusing from educator to the subject




Structured learning experience that combines
community service with preparation and
reflection
Achieves a balance between service and
learning objective




Help student practice decision making and
problem solving skill and to develop human
interaction
Simulation is the third leg in the stool of
education and science





Online model of education-learner
interacts with tutor
Learner oriented learning
Promotes discovery learning

directly





Miniature classroom teaching
Small duration
Paying full attention to a particular unit and skill
Content reduced to one unit with a single
concept


Integrates nursing science, computer science
and information science in identifying,
collecting, processing and managing data
and information
to support nursing
practice, administration, education, research

NURSING CERTICATION
NURSING CERTIFICATION

•Advanced cardiac life support
•Basic life support
•Certified emergency nurse
•Critical care registered nurse
•Neonatal resuscitation program
•Pediatric advanced life support
•Cardio thoracic nursing
•Emergency and trauma care
nursing
•Oncology nursing




Access to health care information for nurses
working in remote area
To reduce the gap between the desperate need
for nursing information and its availability







New methods like OSCE &OSPE
Objective because examiner use a checklist for
evaluating the trainee
Structured, because every trainee sees the
same problem and performs the same task in
same time frame
Clinical, because the task are representative of
those faced in real clinical situation





Maintenance of health records
Health security card
Use of ROBOTS
Reduce error and give cer titude to the clinical
planning process






Nurse have immediate telephone contact with employees and
with patient
Direct and accurate communication between Nurse and
Physician
E.g.. In south Africa nurses uses their mobile phone to suppor t
people living with HIV/AIDS




It is combination of professional exper tise with
available evidence to produce practice that lead
a positive outcome for client
Steps:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Identify a knowledge need and formulate an answerable
clinical question
Locate the best available evidence
Critically evaluate the evidence
Integrate the evidence with patient’s unique biology,
preferences and values
evaluate


Tele nursing is nursing practice that occurs
through the utilization of telecommunication
and includes the use of nursing knowledge,
skills and abilities; the application of critical
thinking and nursing judgement;and provision
of nursing direction or care in specific client
situation


Practise in posing positive and concise question
and response providers.



Develop listening and communitation skills



Develop self confidence



Prepare for shared governence.
WEB QUEST

SIMULATION
 It provides realistic replications for teaching
and problem solving.
 Clinical reasoning skills in non threatening
environment
PROGRAMMED INSTRUCTION

It is new innovation which is the
result of the experimental study of
learning process in the psychological
laboratory. It is a self teaching
technique for acquiring factual
learning
Self Instruction Module
It possess up date knowledge and skills
for the effective delivery of health care
Gaming enhances retention of knowledge
Promotes problem-based learning
Motivates nursingstudents
Promotes active learning
Encourages critical thinking
 Makes learning more exciting






Afraid of failures; of opposition; of the unknown.
Lacking adequate and correct information.
Reluctant to experiment.
Bound by custom & tradition.
Unaware of our strengths for achievement.


We think of the ef fective teacher s we
have had over the year s with a sense
of r ecognition, but those w ho have
touched our humanity we remember
with a deep sense of g ratitude
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.
Anyone who keeps learning stays young.
To teach is to learn twice
Teachers should guide without dictating, and par ticipate
without dominating
The critical factor is not class size but rather the nature of the
teaching as it af fects learning.
LEARNING NEVER ENDS
The incorporation of new technology, alone or in combination
with other methods, reflects the direction of nursing
education.
Different types of technology are being used in today’s class
rooms, laboratories, and / or clinical sites to promote more
realism in the practice environment, enhance learning
outcomes, and promote safe patient care environments in
clinical practices.
To keep up with our changing society and the technological
advances in nursing practice, nurse and educators will have to
be creative in develop new, innovative models of teaching.
Nurse educators will also need be mindful of educational
research, as these new methods are incorporated into
the teaching-learning process.
Nursing pratice has changed dramatically during the
past decade, so has the approach to nursing
education.
Educators need to make certain they are informed about
the possibilities of new technology, its usefulness in
enhancing student education, and the progress of
educational research efforts conducted to guide new
models of nursing education.
THANK YOU
