1. Evaluation Q6
Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you
have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
The Preliminary Task helped a lot in getting started with the use of camera to the final
product. The cinematography on the camera and lighting to record movement onto the
filming, which was an exercise to feel the camera; in which means to get used to the function
of a camera when recording the footage and using technical codes on the angles/shots: close
ups, mid-shot and long shots. On this case, we had lack of knowledge in the preliminary task
of the technical codes as you can see that from the pictures below, the camera was out of
position and there were some shaky moments when holding the camera. If the camera was in
the correct position, you will get the feel on the character on how they look; by their facial
expression, posture and attitude to the camera. The Package was about drugs in a rucksack
that was delivered by hand to the gangster in a secret location. From this experience, I
implemented the camera work onto the main task ‘Operational Croak’. Therefore recording
the footage from the camera and applying the work onto the computer so the editing can be
proceeded from both: preliminary task and Main task into films via software ‘FinalCutPro’
this is in the editing stage.
Preliminary Task: Main Task
Difference between camera
quality and position of
Camera in the Preliminary
task towards the Main Task
In editing process, we used software ‘Live Type’ for the font of the texts. This is to make sure
the colours, text style and text font were all occurred via this software on the titles that were
used for the film. The transitions of images in ‘Cross Dissolved’ was used during the process
of the filming of the editing and other transitions at the end when ‘Operation Croak’ title
name rises and disappears. We wanted to use transitions so the shots are linked and combined
in a scene. Also the transition conveys a tone to the story and suggests the passage of time.
The difference between the preliminary tasks was that the sound was applied to the Footage
of ‘Operation Croak’ and not on the preliminary task. All those elements of action movement
that suited to the music, was collectively put together with ‘live Type’ texts that we used on
the ‘FinalCutPro’ to make the film.

and the main task
2. Overall, the Preliminary task helped our understanding of media as a whole in the production
of filming such as the; cinematography, sound track and editing that was used in the footage
and process of our filming in the main task ‘Operation Croak’. Nevertheless, we did make
mistakes from the cinematography on the Preliminary task, on the positioning of the camera,
which we took from experience and corrected those mistakes onto the main task. In addition,
we had an advantage on using the technology for the editing for the ‘Operation Croak’, which
in first case we did not take notice about the technology for the editing for the preliminary
task.
