1. CLIMATE ZONES.
• The Earth is divided into five main climate
zones:
– A hot zone between the Tropic of Cancer and the
Tropic of Capricorn and the Equator in the middle.
– Two warm zones between the tropics and the polar
circles.
– Two cold zones between the polar circles and the
poles.
• However, there are different types of climates
within these zones.

A. HOT CLIMATES.
• There are three main climates in the hot zone:
– Equatorial.
– Tropical.
– Desert.
• Temperatures are always high: the average
annual temperature is up to 20º C.
• There is little difference in temperatures among
the different seasons.
• There are different climates according to
precipitation.
6. 6
A1. RAIFOREST.
• Equatorial climate:
there is a lot of
precipitation (more
than 2000 mm a year)
and it is regular
throughout the year:
all months are rainy.

A2. SAVANNAH.
• In tropical climates
precipitation is high
(between 500 and
2000 mm.) but not
regular throughout the
year:
– There is a rainy
season in summer
– And a dry season in
winter.
