2. Concept
The themes throughout our music video will portray typical teenage behaviour
after a night on the drink. This theme will include hazy flashbacks as the
protagonist in the video tries to unscramble his mind and figure out what
events occurred the night before. Mise en scene will include shots of empty
beer bottles scattered around the house, and maybe the remains of left over
takeaway etc. Throughout the video, we plan to illustrate the meaning of the
lyrics through the acting and narrative. We will also include shots of a live
band playing parts of the song. The hazy shots will be an important part of the
video as they will create humour and involve the viewer in thinking it is a night
in which they could relate to.

3. Performance and Narrative
The narrative will start with a teenager waking up in his room filled with
empty beer bottles and going downstairs in the morning after a night of
drinking with his friends. As he does this he finds u number of his friends
asleep in different places in the house. These random locations in which he is
finding his friends asleep, trigger flashbacks from the night before. These
flashbacks will include drinking games, dancing, and just being plain stupid
with alcohol. These flashbacks will occur throughout the video. We also plan to
have a live band playing the song and will cut to the band in different parts of
the video; including close ups of the instruments being played and lip syncs.
After the first flashback the boy will go into the kitchen to find another one of
his friends asleep on his table whilst he starts to make him self some breakfast.
The choruses of the song will include shots of the aftermath disappearing. This
will include all the empty bottles in the boy’s bedroom, and in the kitchen etc.
The second verse will show the boy’s mum shouting at him about the mess in
the house. At this point the boy gets his bag and gets kicked out of the house.
After this, he walks to his friends house whilst the band are playing the solo,
and when he gets there, his friends are waiting for him, with another party.
The end of the video with the repeated words ‘reappear’ will show the house
getting messy again after another night of partying. We want the video to
represent a low class teenager’s life of rebellion against parents and constant
partying.
Costume and Props
In the video, the characters will be wearing indie
clothing to suit the alternative genre of music. This
will include skinny jeans, band T-shirts and vans
shoes. As for props we will need instruments for the
live band and also lots of empty bottles to scatter
around the house to create a realistic aftermath from
a party.
Camera and Lighting

4. For the performance element of our video, we want the band to be playing in a
warehouse or an area with lots of graffiti etc. When recording these shots, we
will use close up shots on the instruments so that our audience can see guitar
playing. We will also have some close up shots of the singer so that we can add
lip syncs into the video; we think this will look more professional. Also, when it
comes to editing the camera shots, we want the flashbacks to look hazy and
distorted to reinforce that the protagonist is struggling to remember what
happened. As for lighting, the area in which the band are playing is going to
look rather gloomy so we will need to make sure that we get a clear shot. This
might mean shining a light on the band while they play.
Editing
When we have all of our
shots and it is time to
edit, there are a couple of
things we are going to
do. One of which I
mentioned above about
flashbacks. We will use a
hazy filter over the clip
to make the image look distorted to reinforce that he can’t remember the
events of the night before. At the end of the video when he goes to his friend’s
house, we are going to use a slow motion shot because we think it will look
professional. We will also need to make sure we cut between the narrative and
the performance at suitable times so that the viewer does not get confused. We
must ensure we have a band in our video, as this is a common convention of
alternative music videos.
