3. This is the image I have chosen for my fashion spread, it shows the models outfit very clearly
as the model is sharply in focus. The background of the image is out of focus so we can clearly
see depth of field in the image, the model is making direct address with the audience clearly,
this makes the audience feel more involved. The way she is propped up on the railing is very
interesting and brings in the use of the environment in the photograph. The environment
goes well with my theme of gender reversal because the place she is in is somewhere the
opposite gender could possibly hang out. The text I used for the description of clothing is
Myriad Pro, this text is very simple so it doesn’t detract anything from the main image. The
intentions of my image
was to have the model appear more dominant
& masculine as this would fit with my overall
theme of gender reversal or how making women
look more sporty and masculine can be a good
attractive thing. Overall I think my image meets
the intentions because of the mise en scene of
the image, the model is wearing male clothing
which signifies manliness, the model also
isn't wearing any make-up and hasn’t done her
hair. Her stance is also very upright and dominant
she looks very assertive and has no sign of being
feminine at all.
4. This is the image I have chosen for my photo-shoot, the model is sharply in focus so the
audience can clearly see the whole outfit. The jacket of the model is pushed to the back so we
can clearly see her top & over shirt, which is the whole outfit. The model will be cropped out
of the image so that it is portrait. The colours of the image are mainly on the model, so that
she is the first thing that attracts our attention. The background is rather grey and blends
together which doesn’t take our attention away from the main point of the
image. The model in this image isn’t making direct address with the audience
which makes her seem more dominant in the
image. This is a good feature. The image
meets my intentions because the theme of my
magazine is women looking more dominant /
masculine. In this image the facial expression
makes the model look as if she is not bothered
about the camera and her stance is in such a way
that she is posing for the camera so that the
audience can see more of her. The confidence in
this image has connotations of masculinity and
portrays an image that the model is extremely
comfortable.
5. I have chosen this image because of how interesting technically the image is. Firstly, the camera
shot size is a canted low angle. This is a very difficult camera shot to execute but I believe I did it
well. The canted angle works because the model is leaning back and the camera makes it
appear as if we are leaning with her. This shot angle also shows more of the models outfit,
which is important as the purpose of the image is for it to be a fashion shoot. The model also
has the cardigan open in this image so we can see the grey shirt underneath, the beanie hat
compliments this shirt, making the outfit look good. The image is very interesting because of
the low
angle shot, the mise en scene of the image is
perfect for what I am trying to convey to the
audience, which is gender reversal and how
women can look good in males clothes. This image
meets my intentions of creating a theme of gender
reversal mainly because of the camera angle I used,
the low angle shot gives the model dominance over
the image and has connotations of masculinity and
confidence. These connotations are exactly what I want
my images to portray to the audience so they can
easily understand what the theme is of the fashion
shoot.
6. I have chosen this image as it is the most interesting out of my photo-shoot. The angle used is
an over the shoulder but the model is making direct address with the audience. The model is
not centred in this photograph but she is sharply in focus so she is the first thing we look at. The
rest of the image is clearly out of focus, showing depth of field as we go down the ramp. The
whole outfit of the model including the shoes can be seen in this shot, this is very important as
it is a fashion shoot for clothes, so the audience needs to see the clothes primarily.
The colour red stands out predominantly in this image, it is very important as it makes it so we
look at this first, the audience will do this because the rest of the image is neutral colours. The
title is perfect for conveying the intentions of my
fashion spread. The male gender O symbol in the women perfectly
represents the theme of my magazine, the blue colour also has
connotations of masculinity. The
white stands out very well and the
text below the title works very well
as the blue drop cap allows the
audience to see it clearly. The mise en
scene of this image clearly connotes
a very male image because of the
background in the image, it appears
extremely dirty and where somewhere
of the opposite gender would hang out
and where you would not expect to see
a girl.
8. This image was chosen for my magazine front cover because of the direct address of the model.
Also his actions looks as if he is very serious about prom, the action of pulling up his trousers is
also very suave and adds to the image. The text on the image is very good because the red is
easy to read and stands out so the audience’s eyes will be drawn to it and then they can read
the text below. The title Fun is also red so it can be seen easily and also so it fits with the colour
theme of the magazine. The audience of the magazine is teenagers, so the model had to be a
teenager so it would fit with the theme. The model also
had to look very smart and well dressed to pull
off the theme of this magazine being around
‘Prom.’ The model has been cut out of the
background so that he stands out more against
the white, the top left of the white has been
slightly darkened to give it some differentiation.
The image has also been edited in terms of
brightness & contrast so that the model stands
out more and looks the best he possibly can.
The intentions of this image is to create a
magazine that is appealing to teenagers, though the
combination of the theme (prom) which is appealing
the cover lines which are attractive to the audience
and the fact the model is a teenager himself.
9. This image was chosen for the front cover of my party themed magazine. I believe the image
meets my intentions because of how the model looks. She clearly looks as if she is having a
good time because of her smile. The models pose of brushing her hand through her hair also
works well as it shows off the mise en scene of her outfit, there is a fishnet glove on her hand
which signifies a kid of rock / punk theme, this is how people would generally dress if they were
going to a rave, it is extremely colourful and connotes fun. The text is similar to
every other magazine cover so that there is a general theme that runs throughout and so that it
is very easily so read the coverlines. The
magazine has met its intentions also because
of how it would appear to its target audience,
it looks like fun and would provoke teenagers to
buy it because of the model on the front and
possibly because of the enticing cover lines. Overall
I believe this image meets my intentions of being
a magazine that is attractive to teenagers because of
the mise en scene of the image. The model is dressed
in an outfit that is attractive to a teenager because it
looks as if she is going to a rave, which is also where
teenagers would like to spend their time.
10. I chose this image for the cover of my music themed magazine. The image works well because
the model is making direct address with the audience and his mise en scene suggests he is a
teenager which is the target audience of this specific magazine. All the cover lines are also
relevant to a teenage audience so that they would be interested in the article and consider
buying the magazine. Even the title of the magazine has connotations of teenage life, this is so
that teenagers feel inclined to buy it. The cover lines are also easy to read and stand out well on
the white background. I feel as though this finished product meets my intentions because it can
persuade teenagers to want to buy the magazine.
The image has also been edited in terms of
contrast & brightness so that it is more pleasing
and looks more professional. The contrast brings out
the more vivid colours which is good because I believe
it brings more attention to the brown guitar which
should be quite noticeable and make the theme of
the magazine / a lot more clear. I believe this image
meets my intentions of being attractive to a teenage
audience because of the mise en scene of
image. The guitar is very prominent in this image which
would attract the teenage audience and cause them
to be interested in the magazine.
11. I chose this image for the cover of my technology magazine. The image works well for my
intentions because the phone in clearly viewable by the audience so they will know that it is the
main point of this issue. The mise en scene of the image works because the models facial
features clearly represent that she is in a phone call she wants to get out of, which lots of
teenagers experience with their mothers. The cover lines are also extremely relatable to the
teenage audience. This is so that the audience will feel inclined to buy the magazine. The
clothing of the model in this photograph is bland which is good so it doesn’t detract any
attention away from the main point of the image. Overall I believe this image meets my
intentions because of the mise en scene of the
image and how the cover lines relate to the theme of
the issue. I believe this image meets my intentions
of being appealing to a teenage audience because of
the models facial expression and mise en scene. The
phone in the image will instantly relate to the audience
