The mating or crossing of two plants or lines of dissimilar genotype is known as hybridization. The chief objective of hybridization is to create genetic variation, when two genotypically different plants are brought together in F1. Here, we are going to discuss about different strategies and tools used for hybridization.

Pulses occupy an important place in Indian agriculture. Within this protein-rich group of crops, red gram or pigeonpea occupies an important place among rainfed resource poor farmers because it provides quality food, fuel wood, broom and fodder. Hybrids are plants that result from controlled cross-breeding of two different but specific varieties or breeding lines of the same species of plant. Wild species are important sources of resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses as they have evolved to survive droughts, floods, extremes of temperature (heat/ cold) and have the capability to with stand damage by insect pests and diseases. Ten alleles reported unique to inter-specific derivatives of Cajanus cajan × C. scarabaeoides. The presence of alleles unique to specific population or group indicates an inimitable genetic variability at certain loci. This information is valuable to categorise interspecific hybrids with exclusive genetic variability, whose selection can increase the allele richness of breeding population (Saxena, 2015). High levels of resistance is available in wild Cajanus species, these are not being utilised adequately in pigeonpea breeding programs. The major limitation is due to the linkage drag and different incompatibility barriers between cultivated and wild species. Under such situations, pre-breeding provides a unique opportunity to expand primary gene pool by exploiting genetic variability present in wild species and cultivated germplasm and will ensure continuous supply of new and useful genetic variability into the breeding pipelines to develop new cultivars having high levels of resistance and broad genetic base (Sharma et al., 2013). The major limitation in successfully using Cajanus platycarpus for the improvement of cultivated pigeonpeais embryo abortion in the BC1 generation from the cross C. Platycarpus × C. cajan. This Cajanus platycarpus, although placed in the tertiary gene pool of pigeonpea, is now amenable to gene transfer with the development of suitable embryo rescue techniques (Mallikarjuna et al., 2011).

Why did God create sex? Describe the wonder and sanctity of sex. (Prov. 30:18-19) How is the world’s view of sex in contrast with God’s view? How do your views of human sexuality, including various sexual behaviors, such as premarital sex, adultery, and homosexuality, align with or differ from God’s view? Many ancient world religions had “sex gods” and were known as “fertility religions” – among them were the Canaanites. How were Israel’s standards and attitudes toward sexuality unique? (Gen. 17; Lev. 18:6-29) What was the NT Church’s view on sex? (Lk. 11:34; Rom. 1:22-27; 1 Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20; 7:1-9; Eph. 5:12; Titus 2:6)

Fresh cut vegitation: a non-generic name, are any of 47 species of leaf-chewing ants belonging to the two genera Atta and Acromyrmex. These species of tropical, fungus-growing ants are all endemic to South and Central America, Mexico, and parts of the southern United States. Leafcutter ants can carry more than 5000 times their body weight and cut and process fresh vegetation (leaves, flowers, and grasses) to serve as the nutritional substrate for their fungal cultivars. Acromyrmex and Atta ants have much in common anatomically; however, the two can be identified by their external differences. Atta ants have three pairs of spines and a smooth exoskeleton on the upper surface of the thorax, while Acromyrmex ants have four pairs and a rough exoskeleton. Ants: Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera.Ants form colonies that range in size from a few dozen predatory individuals living in small natural cavities to highly organised colonies that may occupy large territories and consist of millions of individuals. Larger colonies consist mostly of sterile, wingless females forming castes of \"workers\", \"soldiers\", or other specialised groups. Nearly all ant colonies also have some fertile males called \"drones\" and one or more fertile females called \"queens\". The colonies are described as superorganisms because the ants appear to operate as a unified entity, collectively working together to support the colony. Ants have colonised almost every landmass on Earth. The only places lacking indigenous ants are Antarctica and a few remote or inhospitable islands. Actinobacter: Actinobacteria is a phylum of gram-positive bacteria. They can be terrestrial or aquatic. They are of great economic importance to humans because agriculture and forests depend on their contributions to soil systems. In soil, they behave much like fungi, helping to decompose the organic matter of dead organisms so that the molecules can be taken up anew by plants. In this role the colonies often grow extensive mycelia, like a fungus would, and the name of an important order of the phylum, Actinomycetales Fertilizers: Bio-fertilizers provide \"eco-friendly\" organic agro-input. Bio-fertilizers such as Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Azospirilium and blue green algae (BGA) have been in use a long time. Rhizobiuminoculant is used for leguminous crops. Azotobacter can be used with crops like wheat, maize, mustard, cotton, potato and other vegetable crops. Azospirillum inoculations are recommended mainly for sorghum, millets, maize, sugarcane and wheat. Blue green algae belonging to a general cyanobacteria genus, Nostoc or Anabaena or Tolypothrix or Aulosira, fix atmospheric nitrogen and are used as inoculations for paddy crop grown both under upland and low-land conditions. Anabaena in association with water fern Azolla contributes nitrogen up to 60 kg/ha/season and also enriches soils with organic matter A.

Ecological interactions depict the network of influences that the activities of different species have on one another in an ecosystem.
ecological interactions, pdf

ANAKHA JACOB
Ecological interactions form the backbone of an ecosystem. It helps in maintaining the dynamic equilibrium of an ecosystem. All organisms are linked to at least one other species in a variety of critical ways, for example, as predators or prey, or as pollinators or seed dispersers with the result that each species is embedded in a complex network of interactions. Consequently, the extinction of one species can lead to a cascade of secondary extinctions in ecological networks. Moreover, interactions between species can lead to ‘community closure’ after the loss of a species, with the result that a locally extinct species cannot re-establish itself if it is reintroduced. Many ecological interactions involve flagship species and keystone species as in the case of Macaca silenus & Cullenia exarillata. Then some interactions like mycorrhiza help in nitrogen fixation. Strategies like predation reduce the loss of vegetation through grazing. Interaction can be either intraspecific or interspecific. Interactions between individuals of the same species and those between individuals of different species are called intra- & interspecific interactions. respectively. The lichen serves as an example of interspecific interaction and dog fighting. for a common prey for intraspecific interaction.
