Of course we can!
I. Beginning • Hook/attention grabber: Marshal arts for young adults graduating high school, a step towards a more safer and healthy society today.  • The Big Idea Young adults today leaving high school and interring college or joining the work force will face the real world. Which has now become a harsh place these days. So in an effort to really prepare them for the potential dangers out there, I purpose a special class that teaches three skills that I believe that young people today will need to stay safe.   • What is in it for your audience? Explain why your topic is important or worth discussing. Remember when you were 18 years old or you may be that age now depending on who is reading this. At this point in your life you think you know everything and nothing can stop you from doing what you want. I know this because I was once 18 too. When you get out there in the wide world for the first time. Life as you find out its not what you thought it would be. Sadly for some young people out there, they are not equipped with the right tools to handle the pressures and dangers of the real world. I would like to see that change but I would need your help greatly to make this possible. Three real skills that would be given in said class would be Firearms training, Realty based marshal arts, and Defensive tactics.   • Why should your audience listen to you? Explain your ethos (credibility). My mother in her wisdom wanted to make sure that I would be able to handle real life so when I was 9 years old she started me in self defense classes in the city we lived in. The instructor I had was a great teacher. He took a kid with ADD and helped him not only learn how to protect ones self and family but also to keep a calm and steady mind. From that point on I started learning about different forms of marshal arts. Now at the age of 29 I still have that focus and state of calm. Plus I have trained my friends and family as well developed a marshal art for disabled and elderly people. So with 20 years of marshal arts training on hand, I can tell you personally that such training like this can make a difference in a young persons life.  2 slides • Call to Adventure So lets think for a minute about a world where no one gets hurt and everyone is safe and happy all the time. If you live in the real world this is nothing more than a pipe dream. People are hurt all the time. Some people don’t make it home for diner. This is the truth for all of us, but I’m here to tell you can do something about it. You can make a difference in not only your life but someone else’s too.  2 slides II. Middle • Preview the three main points that will support your big idea1: Knowledge is power.2: Don’t be a number on a piece of paper.3: A respectful society • Supporting Point One It has often been said that knowledge is power. This is true in today’s world. So no mater what age you are that will remain the same. So how would Firearms training, Realty based marshal arts, and Defensive tactics really benefit a young person. 3 slides  • Factual or emotional evidenceHere is personal story from my life; involving one of the rare times I have used my training to stop an attacker from hurting one of my friends. Just after high school I was hanging out with some friends and a guy came up and started a fight with one of my friends. I walked up and asked him to leave politely and we did not want any trouble. He then came at me with a claw hammer had I not had any kind of training at all I mite have been killed. I still to this day have the scars on my head from taking a glancing blow from the claw part of the hammer. Benefits for teens and adults. (2013). We see things in news all the time telling such tragedies that should not happen but do. However they could have been avoided to some existent if people knew self-defense on a greater level. Not just the police and military. Most of the time they are reactive and show up after such things happen.  3 slides • Factual or emotional evidenceThe Economist Newspaper Limited. (2012, Apr 28). I believe we can if we start young and give the children and teens of the world today the tools do so. 2 slides • Factual or emotional evidencePrice-Mitchell, Ph.D., M., & (2012). By doing so you are giving them the skills to be aware of the world we live in. If you are a young person reading this I urge to do the same. You will not be sorry you did I a sure you of this.  3 slides III. End • Summarize the main pointsRemember that knowledge is power. Life sucks at times but you need to know that it doesn’t always have to. You don’t have to become a story about safety that is told to children, to scare them into doing the safe option. If the world could see mutual respect thru our young adults then there is no doubt a bright future will be ahead of us.  3 slides • Restate big idea So as parents send their children off to college or tell them to go work and get out. Lets make sure we give them everything to make it in this life. Lets give them the knowledge to not only succeed but survive life as well. 2 slides  • Clincher/new bliss Remember it only takes one person to make a difference on a small scale. But many like-minded people change the world as a whole. The future belongs to the young adults so let help make it a better one. 3 slides Total slides needed about 27!!
