Compasses -They tell you the direction you’re going or the direction you need to go like on a map. -It is also called Mariner Compass. -The directions on a compass are North, South, East and West. -An early form of the compass was invented in china around 1044. -The familiar mariner's compass was invented in Europe around 1190, from whence later originated the liquid magnetic compass. -The red sundial always points North. -You can also get North-West, North-East, South-West, and South-East by combining two directions.
3. Barometer -A Barometer is used to measure atmospheric pressure. - It can measure the pressure exerted by the atmosphere by using water, air, or mercury. -Some types of Barometers are water-based, Mercury, Barographs and Aneroid. -A barometer is commonly used for weather prediction, as high air pressure in a region indicates fair weather while low pressure indicates that storms are more likely. -The first barometer is thought to have been built unintentionally by Gasparo Berti, sometime between 1640 and 1643.
4. -Evangelista Torricelli, who is generally credited with inventing the barometer, went on to build the first instrument with mercury in 1643. One more thing on Barometers!
