1. Your Body
The body is divided up into a number of systems.
Skeletal System Digestive
Muscular System Cardiovascular &
Respiratory
System
As well as the Nervous system , Endocrine system, etc.
System
LETS LOOK AT SOME OF THESE SYSTEMS

2. Digestive System
• Without this
system, the
body would not
be able to obtain
energy and
nutrients.
• It breaks down
all the food
stuffed in my
mouth into
usable nutrients
and expel the
wastes.
3. Digestive System
Digestion begins when you
first smell, see or think about
a tasty food. Saliva begins to
form in your mouth.
When you eat the food your
saliva begins to break down
the food as you chew it.
Once the food is swallowed it
goes down the esophagus
(say: ih-sah-fuh-gus) where
the muscles in the esophagus
push the food down into the
stomach.
4. Digestive System
Attached to the end of the
esophagus is the
stomach. It is like a bag.
In the stomach, food is
mixed up into a pulp.
From the stomach food
goes into the small
intestine. This starts at
the end of the stomach. It
is the longest part. Here,
the nutrients from the food
pass into the blood.
5. Digestive System
After most of the
nutrients are removed
from the food
mixture, there is
waste left over. The
large intestine
pushes the waste into
the rectum (say:
rek-tum), the very
last stop on the
digestive tract. Then
you flush the toilet.

7. Respiratory System
What is the
Respiratory
System?
The respiratory
system takes
oxygen from the air
into our body.
9. Respiratory System
The trachea is divided
into two small tubes.
These are called
bronchi. Each
bronchi is divided
into smaller tubes.
These are called
bronchioles. The
bronchioles are
inside the lungs
10. Respiratory System
The lungs are two organs. They are like bags.
They are inside the thorax or chest. Inside the
lungs, oxygen goes into the blood
13. Blood circulation
What is the circulatory
system?
The circulatory system moves
blood around our body.
The circulatory system consists
of the blood, the heart and
blood vessels.
The heart is an organ made of
muscle. It is inside the thorax
14. Blood circulation
Blood flows through the heart.
Then, it is pumped around our
body. The heart’s pumping
action is called heartbeat.
Blood circulates through blood
vessels:
Veins are the vessels which
carry the blood to the heart.
Arteries are the vessels
which carry blood from the
heart to the rest of the body
15. Blood circulation
The circulatory system
transports blood around our
body.
Blood does three important
things:
1.It collects nutrients from the
small intestine, and transport
them around the body.
2.It collects oxygen from the
lungs, and transport it around
the body.
3.It collects waste from the
body, and transport it to the
kidneys.
16. Excretory system
The excretory system cleans
blood.
The most important organs
in the excretory system
are the kidneys.
They collect impurities from
the blood. Then, they get
rid of them in the urine.
Urine collects in the
bladder. It is expelled
when we go to the toilet.
