Fleet Review:
The CYC Belmont fleet review is being held on the afternoon of Saturday the 26th. Depending on the
progress of the regatta and the forecast, the schedule and start time may need to be modified to avoid a
conflict with the fleet review.

3. Measurement:
Boats will be weighed from one of the hoists along the sea‐wall. In case of high winds where a precise
weight may be difficult to determine, the chief measurer shall possess the authority to determine if a
boat is compliant with class rules for the purposes of the championship. Sails will be measured on the
second floor of the junior activities barge. Please carry your sails up the east staircase and drop them
off inside. Once measured, sails will be available for pick‐up on the CYC patio.
Launching:
We have the use of three hoists and one launching ramp all located along the sea‐wall. Lifting bridles
will be provided by Fleet 13; please have lifting points on the shrouds and transom so that the bridle can
be secured. On Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th, the CYC Sailing School will be in session; 505
sailors will have priority use of the launching facilities, but please look out for the juniors. On Saturday
the 26th, there is one‐design racing scheduled. Some Etchells will launch in advance on Friday night, but
other boats may be using the hoists on Saturday morning. Please be courteous to the CYC sailors
sharing their space with us.
Chandlery Services:
For the inevitable piece of missing hardware or gear, Laser Performance Sail + Sport Chicago will be on‐
site during the regatta. They should be able to cover most regatta hardware needs.
Parking:
Parking in the lot adjacent to the club and boats is limited to holders of harbor system parking passes.
There is daily parking available for $10 in the public lot immediately to the south of the boater lot.
Please note that this lot abuts a public park; exercise care and do not leave valuables in plain sight.
Trailer Storage:
Trailers will be stored at the direction of the regatta organizers where space is available.
Public Transportation:
There are several CTA buses that can be accessed at the corner of Sheridan Road and Belmont Ave. This
intersection is located just on the west side of Lake Shore Drive through the underpass. The route 77
bus runs west along Belmont Ave and south to Diversey. The route 156 bus runs west on Belmont to
Halsted and south via Sheridan, Stockton and La Salle to the Loop. The 145 and 146 buses run express
southbound on Lake Shore Drive to Michigan Ave. They run locally northbound along Sheridan Road.
The “L” system can be accessed at Belmont just west of Clark St. The Red, Brown and Purple lines all
stop at Belmont.
Alcohol:
The launching facilities and boat storage area are all on public parkland. Please keep all alcoholic
beverages within the grounds of the Chicago Yacht Club. Chicago Police patrol the park frequently.
Chicago Pride Fest:
Chicago’s GLBT community is hosting its annual festival in the Lakeview neighborhood from June 25th‐
27th. There are events centered about stages at Halsted and Waveland on the 25th from 3pm‐10pm and

4. on the 26th from 11am‐10pm. The weekend concludes with the “Pride Parade” down Halsted on the
27th at 12pm. There will be street closures associated with this event and heavy foot and vehicle traffic.
Provisions:
Bag lunches will be available for purchase from the CYC kitchen staff during the morning coffee service.
There is a convenience store just west of the harbor at the intersection of Belmont Ave. and Sheridan
Rd. There is a Walgreens a bit further west at the intersection of Belmont and Broadway.
Breakfast:
There will be hot breakfast available for purchase at the club on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Diversions:
Chicago Architectural Tour **highly recommended** See Chicago’s skyline and learn about its history
aboard a guided tour that navigates along the Chicago River. Call Chicago Line Cruises (312) 527‐1977.
Taste of Chicago runs from June 25th‐ July 4th. You can sample food from all over Chicago and take in live
music in beautiful, lakefront Grant Park
Chicago Summerfest runs June 26th‐27th and combines an art show, live music and food vendors. This
festival is centered about the intersection of Clark and Armitage in Lincoln Park.
The Cross‐town Classic heads to the South Side where the Cubs play the White Sox June 26th and 27th at
U.S. Cellular Field.
