5 Do’s for Internet Safety
1.Create usernames and passwords for any
websites
2.Only use safe child friendly websites when
using the internet
3.Avoid posting personal information
4.Ask parents permission if you are under the
age of 18
5.Always follow the websites rules and
conditions
5 Don’ts for Internet safety
1.If you are using instant messaging or entering chat
rooms, DON’T allow others to bully you or put you in
an awkward situation.
2.Don’t communicate with people you are not familiar
with
3.Don’t download any files from unfriendly websites
4.Don’t disable any security setting that may be put on
your computer
5. Don’t ever disclose your true identity online
5 ways to protect computer privacy
1. Make clever passwords to protect your software from
getting hacked
2. Download good protective anti-virus software to protect
yourself from viruses.
3. Never leave your computer on with the internet open
because hackers can access your computer through the
internet
4. Turn on cookie notices in your web browser
5. Do not reply to spammers for any reason
5 Tips on Internet bullying
1. Recognize Internet bully tricks where they try to corner you
2. Refuse requests for personal information
3. If someone gets to interested in aspects about you leave
the program and report the person
4. Tell an adult
5. Confront them tell them to stop and never talked to them
again
Computer Use Policy
 Users must obtain confidentiality and respect the property of
the school. They are not allowed to download anything that
they were not given permission to download and must not get
on any inappropriate websites they may lead to an expulsion
of computer use. Users must use the computers to do
something productive and must be confidential about the
information they put on their work. In all you must respect the
computers and be careful about what you do with it.
Intellectual property: What is it
 property that results from original creative thought, as
patents, copyright material, and trademarks.
 Ex. Indianapolis Colts logo
Fair Use Policy
 Use for educational purposes according to certain
restrictions.
 Ex. Randy wanted to use footage from a football game but
because football games are not under the fair use policy he
could not do that.
Plagiarism
 Plagiarism is defined as the unauthorized use or close
imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and
the representation of them as one's own original work.
 Ex. Turning in a paper That someone else wrote
