With Class II elastics, extrusive force on lower posterior teeth encourages bite

9. 8. Do not hurry final leveling of the arches; use flat rectangular wires at
first, then add bite opening curves as needed.
Slight accentuated curve in upper archwire and reverse curve in lower
archwire can sometimes enhance bite opening during completion of leveling
with rectangular archwires.

10. 9. Use gentle forces for space closure in extraction cases.
Excessive force on rectangular wires during space closure can cause archwire
deflection and binding, ineffective sliding mechanics, loss of anterior torque
control, and bite deepening.
