5. EBUCore: Dublin Core for media
Based on the Dublin Core but better defined with more structured audio and video
attributes.
EBUCore adopted by FP7 EUScreen (AV archive portal):
- 15 EBU members participate as content providers;
- EBUCore is mapped to the Europeana data model (EDM).
EBUCore & PrestoPrime: Positive evaluation
But the scope of EBU is not restricted to archives:
- Exists also as an RDF OWL ontology: semantic web and linked data ready!
- Mapping to the W3C Media Annotation ontology based on EBU CCM
- Adopted by EBU-AMWA FIMS for SOA service definition, by AES (AES60)
- Many resources: mapping tools, JSON representation, etc.
- Used in media production: MediaCorp (Singapore), Bloomberg (USA), etc.

6. egta Metadata – File exchange for advertising
egta: Association of Television and Radio Sales Houses
o Work supported by EBU members: FranceTV, RAI, WDR
Scope: A schema for file exchange of advertising spots
Result: The egtaMETA schema developed by EBU ECM MAG

7. Eurovision News Exchange: IPTC NewsML-G2
EBU - early implementer
EBU played a key role in the definition of
the ‘partMeta’ (video metadata)
NewsML-G2 is distributed operationally
via the Eurovision network (SuperPoP).
EBU receives NewsML-G2 feeds from
Reuters, AP, etc.
Future activities: semantic web combined
with HMTL5 and RDFa
