I. The Story behind Taiwan Culture Portal
M any recent reports from Western countries show that cultural creativity can make significant contributions to the overall economic productivity and vitality of a nation.  As a result, more and more countries are increasing the level of resources allocated to nurturing cultural creativity while rethinking the way they treat organizations and industries that are a part of cultural creativity.  T his takes many forms - the performing arts, museums, and other unique or distinctive items and other sources of original art., bringing palpable benefits in the form of cultural tourism while heightening awareness of the importance of cultural assets. T aiwan is very rich outlook in materials and resources as well as a distinctive cultural history. Its democratic form of government gives artists and culture workers a great deal of room to work with and find themselves. This has led to a spirit and culture that is uniquely Taiwan. A. Why a Taiwan Culture Portal?
M uch of the world is already aware of the vitality and creativity that exists in Taiwan. Taiwan is well-known for its technological prowess, and is beginning to win recognition for its cultural activity and artistic talent.  A s the 21st century moves along, Taiwan is in line with the trend toward globalization in making this creativity and talent known to the rest of the world. This means 21st century media such as the Internet to let everyone enjoy a taste of Formosan culture. A. Why a Taiwan Culture Portal?

II. Website Structure and Contents
A. Website Data  T he Taiwan Culture Portal website was formally introduced to the world in July 2007. It is the primary gateway for gaining entry to the world of Taiwanese culture through the Internet.  T he Taiwan Culture Portal offers free, high quality, constantly updated and accurate content and news on the latest happenings in Taiwanese culture. It also provides in-depth analyses of what is happening in Taiwan on other fronts as well and is quickly becoming the destination of choice for learning more about Taiwan through English language reports and essays. The main topics include current events, topical essays, news of events, Foreigner’s Eye on Taiwan (videoclips), a photo gallery, opinions, special topics, bloggers and other items related to Taiwan culture for a total of nine different sections.  T he site also provides other services such as Search both inside and outside the website, RSS subscription and RSS broadcasting, special membership privileges, a download area, readers polls and other useful functions.

Links 饒河夜市 九份 拜拜的故事 北投溫泉 雅美飛魚祭 鶯歌陶瓷 黑焦達人 基隆中元祭 1)  A rticles in the News and Events sections may be updated and replaced at any time during the week with reports prepared by specialists in the culture industry. Each month also sees the addition of seven stories and three opinion pieces related to Taiwan culture. These items are designed to be of interest to people who stop by the TCP to learn about Taiwanese culture and the latest trends in Taiwanese society. 2)  C urrent membership stands at about 700 viewers, and the site offers links to nearly a dozen bloggers dealing with various aspects of Taiwan culture. 3)  T CP’s audio-video section now has a library of several hundred images featuring Taiwan’s colorful artists, performing troupes, natural landscapes and other beautiful views of the island. There is also a growing video library which takes visitors to tourist hot spots as well as places that are off the beaten track around Taiwan.
III. Outlook and Plans for the Future
A. Outlook ,[object Object],[object Object],U tilize the ‘Internet Culture Construction Development Plan’ to create a base by including anything and everything in digital culture and creative content. Build up a rich and outstanding cultural society that will give people a deep impression of the ‘good life’ in Taiwan while allowing foreigners to understand Taiwan’s culture easily.
