1. Heart Rate Lab Report Use this guide to write your lab report.
2. This lab report only needs to contain the following sections: A proper scientific title A 1-2 paragraph introduction Results section Discussion section Literature Cited/Bibliography
3. Title A scientific title generally has: 1. The factor that were changed (jumping). 2. The thing that was measured (pulse). 3. The specific organism that was studied (7th grade Homosapiens). Here is an example: "The Effects of Light and Temperature on the Growth of Populations of the Bacterium, Escherichia coli "
4. Introduction Should contain your hypothesis. Your introduction should include relevant background information about the heart and the circulatory system. At a minimum you should include the following information: A description of the circulatory system What is a pulse? Examples of stimuli that can increase heart rate

6. Literature Cited / Bibliography You MUST give credit for your sources! You MUST cite at least two sources of information in your introduction. Make sure to use quotation marks around words that are not your own original ideas/words. Use a footnote (a small number at the end of the sentence) to show that what you are writing comes from one of your sources in the bibliography. For example: “A heart attack occurs when blood flow to a section of heart muscle becomes blocked” (1). The (1), refers to the first source in the bibliography
7. Formatting & Grammar You must type your lab report. A printed copy is due in class. If you do not have a printed copy, it is late. Each day it is late, a letter grade is lost. After three days, the assignment will not be accepted. Spelling and grammar count! Your lab report should be NO MORE than two pages.
