Learn how the IKANOW platform helps crunch big data with an example of searching for multiple aliases of Muammar Gaddafi. You can also watch how it is done on our blog post: http://www.ikanow.com/blog/05/14/aliasing-big-data-use-cases/

Alright – Good afternoon everyone and thanks for joining us today, as Scott said my name is Josh and I’m an analyst with Ikanow and I am going to jump right into the agenda for today’s webinar.
I realize some of you may be familiar with Ikanow but for those who are not I am going to start off with a quick overview of the company and what we do. I briefly cover our different product offerings and some of the use cases we’ve been involved in, then we’ll get to the good stuff. Again, hopefully some of you are familiar with our platform but for those that are not, I’m going to start off with a quick orientation tour before jumping into the Aliasing example. Throughout that aliasing demo you’ll get to see some of our widgets in action but afterwards I will run through some of the others, pointing out some of our most recent updates/enhancements. Finally, and if we have time, I’ll introduce our Chrome Extension, which allows you to create sources for RSS feeds, HTML pages, and several other
So Ikanow was founded in 2011. Our founders were at a systems integration firm which was acquired in 2010, they then set out to apply the lesson’s they’d learned to create a Best of Breed analytics solution, with an emphasis on unstructured data. And in the process they also wanted to remain committed to open source technologies and principles.
In terms of core capabilities we have our Open Source platform, which allows for the harvesting, enrichment, analysis, visualization and export of both structured and unstructured data.Of course we complement our software with Big Data Analytic Consulting Services – developers, analysts.
This graphic seems to be a favorite for a lot of our clients and partners, it really just drives home the point at the end of the day the most important part of analytics is actually coming up with answers to the tough questions, and turning raw information into intelligence.
As far as our offerings, we have our open source Community edition and Developer API, as well as our Enterprise Edition along with a newer, scaled back offering for Lab environments. And we offer both community and enterprise editions as hosted services in either public or private cloud.
Our community edition is available for free on Github, where you can download the source code or install using our RPMs.
It is also available on Amazon’s AWS Marketplace, where you can launch your own instance in the cloud very quickly and easily and only pay for what you use.
And we also have our developer API available through Mashery.
And of course our Enterprise Edition, which includes the core platform along with additional features and our services & support.
This first use case is a Strategic Workforce Analysis tool we developed for a civilian Federal agency, which uses tailored algorithms and predictive analytics to provide decision support for work force management. This allows the agency to form strategies around future changes in their work force and/or workload, and we also recently incorporated fiscal data to factor in budget constraints.
We worked with an Intelligence Agency to unify their legacy data sources and streamline their collections as well as automate query generation – and you see the metric there that we are particularly proud of, which was a 98% process improvement.
This one here is some graph analysis on unstructured data, using salesforce and social media data facilitate lead generation.
We’ve also done some pure document discovery and clustering work with a DoD client, and most recently we’ve done some open source collection and analysis for fraud detection in international financial markets.
So that wraps up the first portion of the webinar, and now we can jump over the demo.
