6. Search and Interactive Content
Optimized for Engineers
Knovel’s search functionality is optimized for engineers. Users can
easily find data hidden in tables, graphs, and equations. Users can
search numeric ranges and use multi-variable search.
Knovel’s sophisticated search ensures that content can be found –
and finding translates into using. In many schools Knovel is the most
used engineering reference source.
Knovel offers over 100,000 interactive graphs, tables, and equations
that can be manipulated, analyzed and incorporated into an engineer's
workflow.
Users seek answers to technical questions, not specific ebooks.
Knovel facilitates discovery. The ability to query Knovel’s extensive
collection of engineering resources to find answers quickly, along with
the ability to interact with data that would otherwise be static, exceeds
the value of a collection of ebooks.

is Important to Practicing Engineers
Toinform material selection in product design for aerospace,
equipment, industrial construction
Tostreamline decision making in process design and scale up in
process industries

9. Why Having Reliable, Readily-Available Data
is Important to Engineering Students
Employers expect engineering students to enter the workforce with
skills that enable them to make contributions from day one. Students
who are familiar with tools and resources that are used by global
engineering firms have a competitive advantage over their peers who
do not.
UsingKnovel, students learn how to research, problem-solve, and
prepare for a competitive workforce by using the same tools and
trusted information used by engineers at more than 300 leading
companies worldwide.
Students“go online” to find answers to everything. Google and
Wikipedia require a critical eye to determine credibility and patience
to review a deluge of search results. Knovel’s search functionality is
optimized for engineering. Results are precise, and the information,
from trusted sources, has already been vetted.

10. Why Having Reliable, Readily-Available Data
is Important to Engineering Librarians
With Knovel, you can maximize your limited resources by making an
efficient engineering information purchase.
Knovel proactively curates its content by working with network of
engineering experts with technical depth that help us to fine tune our
offering across 29 subject areas.
Knovel offers 29 subject areas from which you can carefully choose topics
most relevant to your patrons. You can select the subjects that best align
with the interests of your users.
Knovel’s subscription model provides the freedom to add new content and
adjust to meet the evolving needs of your patrons.
Knovel encourages customers to recommend new content and has a formal
internal content review team responsible for reviewing customers’ requests.

11. Why Having Reliable, Readily-Available Data
is Important to Engineering Faculty
Professorscan use interactive content as part of their arsenal of
teaching tools to provide students with a wide array of problems to
solve.
Witha variety of tools and sources, professors can check their
students’ understanding of course material and create a deeper
knowledge of core principles.
The learning curve for using interactive content is short, particularly
for “digital native” students.

12. Filling Market Gap: Unpublished Data
Building on engineers feedback and years of experience, Knovel is:
Expanding data to better satisfy customer needs
Compiling and designing more of the data that don’t fit in handbooks
Beginning in 2012, Knovel is offering exclusive, interactive datasets in Existing Subject
Areas
Properties for optical and filter glasses in Optics and Photonics subject area
Mechanical properties of light alloys in Metals and Metallurgy subject area
The largest bank of correlations in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering subject area
Properties of commercially available crude oils in Oil and Gas Engineering subject
area
And more to come …

From day one, we’ve listened carefully to our customers to ensure the content and tools we offer foster innovation in the engineering community Knovel’s product development is driven by customer feedback collected through customer meetings, surveys, and focus groups. We also work closely with our Design Partners, including some of our largest clients, to verify and test user requirements and features.
We continually talking to engineers to understand what they need to do their jobs more effectively. We work with high-level editorial board to understand trends, and they help is to prioritize content aggregation opportunities. On a granular level, we seek to understand pressures of engineers. We learn via renewal surveys, our highly vocal customer base, etc. We follow up on requests for content. We interview engineers as we develop new subject areas to find out what is useful, needed. We tap our publishing partner network- find out what content is new and add content that is successful.
And several of these engineers are editors of world-renown engineering textbooks such as James Bralla, editor of Design for Manufacturability James Speight, editor of Lange’s Handbook of Chemistry
