FAIRsharing consists of three registries: data standards, databases and data policies. This short talk focuses on the FAIRsharing data policy registry, and how including your institutional, funder, publisher, journal, society, project in FAIRsharing can improve findability and machine readability of your policy

The role of FAIRsharing in assessing FAIRness of digital objects: we assist, not assess. The workshop brought together a number of FAIR evaluation tools to discuss and design common FAIR tests to ensure tools deliver consistet results. Our presentation illustrates how FAIRsharing's content helps and how FAIRsharing's service contributes. The work will contribute to the work of the EOSC FAIR Metrics Task Force.

SyMBA (http://symba.sf.net) is a data archive and integrator based on Version 1 of the Functional Genomics Experiment (FuGE, http://fuge.sf.net) Object Model (FuGE-OM), and which archives, stores, and retrieves raw high-throughput data. Until now, few published systems have successfully integrated multiple omics data types and information about experiments in a single database. SyMBA includes a database back-end, expert and standard interfaces, and a Life Science Identifier (LSID) Resolution and Assigning service to identify objects and provide programmatic access to the database. Having a central data repository prevents deletion, loss, or accidental modification of primary data, while giving convenient access to the data for publication and analysis. It also provides a central location for storage of metadata for the high-throughput data sets, and will facilitate subsequent data integration strategies. We encourage the use, installation and development of SyMBA by other groups. Please let us know if you are interested in using or evaluating SyMBA for use at your own Centre. In his presentation, Mr. Dekkers underlined the importance of structural metadata. According to him it is essential to find out what are the requirements, what are the costs from a resource point of view and what are the foreseen benefits. As a result of the survey, several good practices and recommendations have been identified which can support the efforts to improve metadata management and governance in Europe.

FAIRsharing uses collections to create community-specific views of the resource descriptions we store and the relationships among them. This talk describes the work by EOSC-Life Work Package 1 to update and enrich the EOSC-Life collection, which groups together all resources created by EOSC-Life partners. Part of the EOSC-Life AGM 2022 (https://www.eosc-life.eu/news/3rd-agm/).

Overview of the landscape of standards in life sciences for the NIH BD2K "Frameworks for Community-Based Standards Efforts" workshop September 25, 2013 - September 26, 2013 Co-Chairs: Susanna Sansone, PhD and David Kennedy PhD. The overall goal of this workshop is to learn what has worked and what has not worked in community-based standards efforts. Participants will have experience in leading specific community based standards initiatives. Prior to the workshop, participants will be asked to address in writing answers to specific questions regarding formulating, conducting, and maintaining such efforts. This information will be used to facilitate focused and actionable discussion at the workshop. Issuance of a Request for Information soliciting comment from the broader community on some of the key issues addressed in the workshop is currently envisioned. A 10 minute presentation on how we can make repositories FAIR, primarily through storing their metadata on FAIRsharing.org. Presented at the FAIRsFAIR FAIR Semantics & FAIR Repositories pre-RDA P14 meeting in Helsinki, Finland on the 22nd October 2019. FAIRsharing can be used to edit and store metadata on repositories from across the natural sciences, engineering sciences, social sciences and humanities. This metadata is marked-up in schema.org and bioschemas (where relevant) and is given a citable DOI. This metadata can be used to power DMP tools and wizards and can also be used to perform FAIR assessments, such as through the FAIR evaluator or FAIRshake.

https://datascience.nih.gov/news/march-data-sharing-and-reuse-seminar 11 March 2022 Starting in 2023, the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) will require institutes and researchers receiving funding to include a Data Management Plan (DMP) in their grant applications, including the making their data publicly available. Similar mandates are already in place in Europe, for example a DMP is mandatory in Horizon Europe projects involving data. Policy is one thing - practice is quite another. How do we provide the necessary information, guidance and advice for our bioscientists, researchers, data stewards and project managers? There are numerous repositories and standards. Which is best? What are the challenges at each step of the data lifecycle? How should different types of data? What tools are available? Research Data Management advice is often too general to be useful and specific information is fragmented and hard to find. ELIXIR, the pan-national European Research Infrastructure for Life Science data, aims to enable research projects to operate “FAIR data first”. ELIXIR supports researchers across their whole RDM lifecycle, navigating the complexity of a data ecosystem that bridges from local cyberinfrastructures to pan-national archives and across bio-domains. The ELIXIR RDMkit (https://rdmkit.elixir-europe.org (link is external)) is a toolkit built by the biosciences community, for the biosciences community to provide the RDM information they need. It is a framework for advice and best practice for RDM and acts as a hub of RDM information, with links to tool registries, training materials, standards, and databases, and to services that offer deeper knowledge for DMP planning and FAIR-ification practices. Launched in March 2021, over 120 contributors have provided nearly 100 pages of content and links to more than 300 tools. Content covers the data lifecycle and specialized domains in biology, national considerations and examples of “tool assemblies” developed to support RDM. It has been accessed by over 123 countries, and the top of the access list is … the United States. The RDMkit is already a recommended resource of the European Commission. The platform, editorial, and contributor methods helped build a specialized sister toolkit for infectious diseases as part of the recently launched BY-COVID project. The toolkit’s platform is the simplest we could manage - built on plain GitHub - and the whole development and contribution approach tailored to be as lightweight and sustainable as possible. In this talk, Carole and Frederik will present the RDMkit; aims and context, content, community management, how folks can contribute, and our future plans and potential prospects for trans-Atlantic cooperation. Data policy must be partnered with data practice. Our researchers need to be the best informed in order to meet these new data management and data sharing mandates.

A multi-speaker presentation given by the European Commission FAIR Data Expert Group at ScieDataCon as part of International Data Week in Botswana in November 2018. Simon Hodson, Chair of the Group explained the remit and background. Natalie Harrower outlined key concepts. Francoise Genova spoke on the recommendations related to research data culture. Daniel Mietchen addressed the infrastructure needed and our proposals for a FAIR ecosystem, and Sarah Jones spoke to the cultural aspects needed to drive change and outlined the FAIR Action Plan. The report has been revised in light of the 500+ comments received as part of the open consultation and will be formally released on 23rd November as part of the Austrian Presidency events.

While the private sector has already discovered the wide set of benefits of web 2.0 technologies (McKinsey, 2009), the public sector is only beginning to use these tools. Especially the use of interactive and collaborative tools in FTA for priority setting has been rather limited until today. Examples in both a public and private sector environment suggest great potential for web 2.0 foresight in public organisations and policy-making, both in terms of advancing foresight methodologies and in terms of increasing transparency. This paper develops a framework for designing a web 2.0 foresight exercise, building on the For-Learn Foresight Cycle, experiences from other disciplines such as market research with web 2.0 research, and hands-on project experience from JRC-IPTS. It applies the framework to the design and implementation of a foresight case of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), where a web 2.0 ideation platform was used to collect ideas from research and development communities across the globe for world leading innovation that integrate education, business and research with a specific thematic focus. It is concluded that key elements in the design are clarity about process and outcome objectives, a systematic approach to tool selection, the organisation of a pilot before the launch, a clear view on sense-making from the data collected, and a certain degree of autonomy in the management of the foresight process.

This slide will show how to set domains for a field in odoo 17. Domain is mainly used to select records from the models. It is possible to limit the number of records shown in the field by applying domain to a field, i.e. add some conditions for selecting limited records.
