The word “superstition” means the irrational or absurd belief or fear , the word “superstition”come from the ancient language of latin That something, which we do or say , may cause an event and affect us in the future There are two types of superstition Good luck and bad luck Touching something made of wood is supposed to bring you good luck in the future Throwing salt over your left shoulder ‘ll bring good luck this come from belife that the DEVIL sits behind you,on the left so the salt would go into his face Hanging a horse-shoe on your wall the idea behin d this is the all your good luck will be caught in the shoe like a cup and therefore will last forever If you see 4 leaf clover in the field ,keep it safe some people believes that can bring you lots of good luck Bad luck is lack of success or bad thing that happen to you , that have not been caused by yourself or other people. Following me say about some common bad luck superstition 1,Walking Under a Ladder according to Christian belief, a leaning ladder formed a triangle with the wall and the ground, that was supposed to represent the Holy Trinity. Walking under such a ladder, was equivalent to violating the Holy Trinity and was supposed to bring bad luck. 2, Breaking a Mirror According to Roman culture, one's reflection in the mirror was believed to represent one's soul. Hence breaking the mirror or looking into a broken mirror was supposed to bring seven years of bad luck. The bad luck would be over after seven years as the soul was believed to renew itself every seven years. 3, a black cat walking past you, the black cat is often a symbol of evil so to have one walk pass you is especial ly bad although some people have the opposite view and consider the black cat as a bringer a good fortune or a lucky charm 4, Opening an Umbrella Indoor Opening umbrellas indoors was supposed to bring bad luck because in olden times, the umbrella was supposed to be used only as a protection against the sun. Hence, opening it indoors was considered as a mark of disrespect to the Sun god. 5, the number thirteen, many people consider this number to be very unlucky,if the thirteen day of the month falls on the Friday then that is considered as an bad day,some people will actually stay at home on this day to as avoid any bad luck or misfortune 6, in china ,the number 4 is considered unlucky because in the chinese language ,4 has a similar sound to the chinese word for death 7,in thailand the number six is supposed to bring bad luck because it is believed that is can reverse or undo your good fortune
